At lunchtime today, I am having my legs waxed at work all in the name of charity!! Didn't actually volunteer but was put forward for it and couldn't back out for fear of looking a wimp!!

Just a couple of quick questions for anyone that waxes their legs! How much do you think it will hurt, bearing in mind that I have quite long leg hair and how long will it take to grow back?! Not really looking forward to having to go the gym and working out in trousers to mask my shaven beauties!

Anyone else engaging in Red Nose japes? Best of luck if you are!!

It doesn't hurt you big girl! Unless you have ever shaved it. Beware if you having all your legs waxed, because there are very sensitive areas depending on the person. Top leg is worse. Bring something to squeeze.

Sorry, forgot to add. Hair will grow back in a couple of weeks...... maybe

I apologise in advance.

But I cant stand Red Nose Day.

Its like the nations excuse to behave like they are on sodding rag week. All day I have been plauged by 'crazy' people with their 'zany' red hair and really really funny, oh I can assure you sodding hilarious, antics. Its like working in an office full of Colins from Colins Office Trolley. I feel like standing up and shouting, look you bunch of s, leave the comedy to the comics. You work at a insurance company which leads me to believe that every other day of the soddding year you arent exactly the life and soul of the bloody party.

Fair play if you're getting involved and of course all the money goes to a good cause but really Saturday can not come soon enough for me.

Plotloss, I agree entirely with what you said!! I have never got involved before, but unfortunately was not around when I was put down to do it. As the boss's son, I couldn't really pull out as it would reflect badly on my mother as well; so I thought I should grin and bare it. Normally I prefer just to give to charity, when I can, in a more private manner. However, what with trying not to look like a wimp, family pride being at stake and the fact that they have raised £500, I thought I should pipe down and let them get on with it! Though what the hell is it with the red dye in the hair?!

A brave call. I entirely agree, it's getting out of control. With national productivity at an all time low due to PH we can't afford another week off. The Chinese must think we are mad (while they carry on pumping out consumer goods)

I don't find waxing hurts at all. In fact to me it's almost like a tickling sensation. Might throb a bit for a few minutes since it's your first time, and you'll have that lovely dotted oven-ready-chicken effect until the morning .

Likely to get some regrowth in a couple of weeks, and should be back to normal within 8 weeks. You might find that your g/f quite likes it . How far are you going? Watch out for ingrowing hairs, which are common when you first wax.

Edited to say that the 'how far are you going', and 'girlfriend might like it' stuff was directed at iceman, not Mrs Fish!

Good luck to the guy getting your legs waxed! I remember a male friend of mine used to be a really keen swimmer (semi-pro) and always had his legs silky-smooth. Said it wasn't too bad, but did tend to get VERY sensitive up near the top
completely understand why you 'have' to do it - certainly well done for that.

As for comic relief...pisses me off entirely!! If I want to contribute to charity, I do it myself, how I want, when I want, and to who I want. (I remember a thread on here about coin jinglers or tub shakers, I forget what they're called now!).

Comic Relief has become a bit of a publicity stunt for celebrities now - you have to be seen to be saying 'Oh it's such an important cause'.

To me it's just trying to 'embarass' people into giving you money. Bollocks! I don't get embarassed easily and so I will contribute how and when I want to...!

I am the only one on my side of the office that doesnt have red hair.

Its shameful, really. Dave Allen died last night, this all seems sacrilidgeous.

On the subject of waxing though I cant think about it without thinking of that scene in Kevin and Perry Go Large...

Waxings a walk in the park, you bunch of fairies.

Its like shaving (er....don't know how many of the ladies shave..), just pull the strips off in the direction of the hair growth.

Admittedly, can sting a bit in senstivie areas (armpits, cha-cha and so forth)

Easy as.
