Just wondering where your ECU is....

Mine is under the flap which leaves a lot to be desired...I know some are on the left hand side recess of the passenger footwell.

So where is yours?...

Thanks

Flap. With a superbly designed garden gate hinge for the "built in tractor factory" appeal.....

Oh, and a luggage strap to stop it waking the Mrs up when it falls open.

All three - flap. I also have a garden gate hinge on the SX, that was a later upgrade.

Yeah you might be right about the water getting in, do the fixings mean that the bolts will penetrate the inner wing?

What you could do is put in the fixings then glass again over the back of them if you can get your hand into that void...

Hi Adam.

Im not 100% on that as the carpet needs to be removed to see them...As i understand it there are nuts bonded into the tub that line up with the holes on the ECU...My friend has rubber mounted his....

Ill take a pic next time i see him...smile

Cheers

Hi

350i's on hinged flap.

450SE and SEAC in the passengers nearside foot well recess. In the case of the SEAC covered in matching carpet.

Mines just shoved up under the dash on the passenger side along with the fuse box. Neither are mounted to the car by anything other than the cables. Sweet!

Mine is flap mounted also but will be reevaluated when I pull the dash for a recover. Also going to securely mount the fuse and relay panels at that time.

ECU back from the re-solder and will go back in this weekend to see what issues are better, or gone!

350i in the side of the footwell covered by the carpet. 390 on the flap. Footwell seems a much better location.

Mmm...I think your 350i could of been prepared as a 400SE...Don't think there are many in that colour?...You may as well plonk a 5.0ltr HC Griff lump in there..smile

This is my thinking about the footwell..Its one of the areas in a Wedge that just looks un-finished to me..Im going to try something else first with the flap as the opening and closing is a crude screw..(Once upon a time i would of enjoyed that...)..There certainly is enough loom to tuck away...

350SE No24. under the flap and still has the original masking tape to hold it in too, only reason I know that is because had to change the fuse for the Hooter a few years ago for MOT.

Mark, my 350 is a litter different with its SEAC style 4 clock dash. The bulkhead is identical to the later 400SE including the heater plumbing. Interesting that Andy's SEAC also has the ECU in the footwell. I was interested in the SEAC advertised on the TVRCC and received a load of photos from the owner. The interior of his SEAC and my 350 are identical.

Hi Keith

I would love to see the pics of that SEAC's interior, to do a comparison etc. One point if I remember your dash is different to a SEAC because it has a wider central consol due to the handbrake!

400se with air con.

I have forgot how much space the air con takes up in the footwell of a wedge. My old 400SE is looking good in that pic.

My ECU is also tucked away under a carpet flap in the passenger's footwell. I am quite happy with it being there as access and visibility is very good when you drop the carpet flap down. Touch wood, so far,the ECU has given me no problems and I hope it stays that way.
