I'm about to buy a new red 22 groupset and am a little torn between which mech to spec.

90% of my riding with be with a 11-26 cassette but a couple of times a year I'll be using a 11-32. I originally planned to buy an additional medium length Force mech to use on those occasions but maybe I should just get the wifi mech and use it year round?

Aside from a few grams, is there any reason not to run the wifli mech? Slower shifting?

(obviously I will loose 452 respect points for having the option to run anything but an 11-23, but I'm trying not to focus on the vanity aspect)

Just get the longer one.
Anyone who looks down at you for having lower gears on your bike is a tt - even the pros sometimes use triples or compacts - so why does Club Run wker think it's uncool to have anything smaller than 11-53?

Just get it - more flexible.

Seriously though, has anyone on a club ride or elsewhere had ANYONE peer at their chainset and / or cassette and make a joke? No one gives a toss really.....but people do get very enervated about this issue and I don't understand why.

i run a red short cage and can fit a 11-28 on it, i suspect i could get 11-30 on it.
