sort of overheating.

The Griff is not playing ball; it has started to run hotter [ up to 90+ ] normally it runs at 70 to 80, I've changed the thermostat and bled the radiator but no change, it's not using water and am going to check for co2 in the water tomorrow. Has anyone had a waterpump fail? It's a preserp. I really need some help here, going to Scotland next week, cheers, John
Even though the rad works, there is still a possibility it could be partially blocked. Was it getting hot even once moving? Could be as simple as the ambient temp outside being so hot/humid, the car is just running hotter.
Could try a coolant system flush. Then top up with correct antifreeze coolant.

This ^^^^^. How old is the rad. Could try a coolant system flush. Then top up with correct antifreeze coolant.

Mine has run hotter the last few weeks.

Mine normally sits at 70 ish, had a long drive last Saturday and temps tended to be 80-85 running at 60-70 mph and all other times around 90.
If your fans are kicking in and out then I think this is likely to be normal at this time of year.
Are your hoses bulging when at 90+
A 'normal' indicated 70C would be too low I think.
My Chimaera in the 3 yrs I've had it only indicates 70C when on the move at 60 mph + on a cool day. After all, the thermostat would still be shut at this temp, it's designed to be open.
This time of year, it's 80-90C when up to temp. The fans com on at about an indicated 95C then off again at 90C.
If you have no leaks and the fans come in and out, I'd expect it to be fine.

Hi Alun, I don't know about the hoses bulging but my eyes are bulging when that temperature gauge starts getting near 100c. the engine is getting hot, took ages to let the pressure out, the fans are working well.
Hi John The bulging would suggest very hot, just a sign,
Try bleeding the system a few times after a good run
When I ran on the original Ecu I used ecumate or you could use Rover gauge to check what the Ecu was seeing as opposed to the gauge,
It regularly said 100 on the gauge when it was 90 at the Ecu,,
Heat soak, because at other times it sat at 90 no bother.
I now have an Mbe Ecu and my gauge reads 80 almost all the time unless it's very hot in traffic, running at speed 70, in traffic 90-100 but that's the gauge because fans are kicking in and out,, it can only kick out if the temps have dropped to 90 ish, so the gauge is not quite accurate. The pressure build up will make my hoses go firm, bulging would worry me.
Hope that helps in some way
