Good afternoon Gents.....& any PH Ladies.

I thought someone may enjoy my tales of woe and sorrow amongst my short but vibrant history of cars.

"First Love" The 106 1.1 Zest 2, a car that initially I hated and my first choice of a new car was a old beetle from 15yrs old, I then unfortunately got my first and developed a thirst for bedroom related activities and as I approached 17, like all other mongrels the Saxo/106 was the car for me. Me and my dad along with the assistance of my dads mate drove to Birmingham on a miserable and grey day. There she was in a red/burgundy with matching interior.........car bought and on the drive back, all the brakes lock up and 3hr wait for the AA. It finally arrives home at the garage near mine and after welding the discs together this was changed along with a service. Test passed at 17 a few weeks later (1st time w/ 3 minors) I proceeded to "Mod" Vibe Slick w/ matching 6x9, MR lights with gti raptors at stock height after the glow in the dark trims haha! It literally opened up my eyes what teenage girls will do at the back of a dim lit carpark, to cut a long story short I blew the engine on the way to Southend and sat on my drive rotting. we shall pick up the 106 later.

"Company Car = No Job" Now I landed on my feet after doing very well as a travel agent and was offered the chance to be an estate agent which given the situation and boost in money, I took. A Seat Ibiza 1.2! I hated this car in every way and missed the 106 until someone left and I upgraded to a Diesel Cupra R, Now this was a swift change in power and felt like I was in Fast & The Furious until inevitably a month later I was dismissed due to man, many complaints including a picture of the car on 3 wheels round a roundabout supplied by the local paper. I then moved to a large estate agent that used to have a liking towards the BMW 1 series, being a 1.6 it was absolutely pants compared to the Cupra, surprisingly lacking any extras and stickered up too the high heavens. However again women liked it and again I planted my seed. Eventually I left to move to Canada where my Mum lived.

"Canadian Barges" I arrived in Canada expecting Mounties and moose everywhere, however I moved to Vancouver which was very pleasant.
I worked for a while and found the vehicle that was cheap, A Toyota Corolla SR5 for 100 dollars, I bought it and cleaned it up, refurbed the allies and tinkered with the engine and changed it a mini service whilst waiting for the paperwork to arrive, a man offered me $1200 for the car as it was his when he was younger so without fail I sold it to him and never really got to drive it, I also bought an old Buick Skylark but I just didn't have the knowledge at that time to get her running properly however a petrol V6 Pathfinder (1995) I believe. I saw it in my local town in someone's front garden with grass growing up the side of it and from what I could see a very old 4 SALE sign, I should of stayed on the bus but I decided to get off at the stop and investigate, I was greeted by a large bearded man who at first looked at me very strangely until I pointed at the Pathfinder and he started to laugh saying that he was selling it 2 years ago and ended up staying there, I was quite disappointed but he said that I could have the car if I moved it, upon inspection I couldn't even see if the tyres had air and the man asked if I wanted a strimmer whilst he finds the key. I strum the grass and there she was, the big green, rusting beast. the clock displayed 505,000ish KMS, he said the clock stopped in the mid 2000's but I still stupidly wanted to know more. We got a jump pack and the big moment! It actually started!! I could not believe it, none of the electrics worked inside but I did not care, she worked! Paperwork was sorted and my mum took me to BCAA to insure the car and get my plates, I got it home and fixed the internals apart from the bloody fuel gauge and drove her for a good 6 months including breaking the 4x4 linkage off roading within the first 2 months, absolute warrior of a car and should be an advertisement for Nissan. I then upgraded to a little Chevrolet Sonoma 5 speed which was a nice little truck but me being 6ft4, too small! I got a suburban for tidying someones garden and a 24 pack of bud which I saved from rusting away and had some good times as you will see in the photos. After that I had a couple of trucks including a 86 Ford F250 Super Diesel with the 6.9 International Block, Another massive Ford F250 and finally finished up with a 5.0 Stang, Honda CRV, A dirty Merc & finally my Dodge Ram complete with Cowboy Hat! Also a few un-notables like a Lebaron and other K series cars.

"The Return" I returned to England after 2 years, older and wiser. I managed to get working in Estate agency again, I was given an Astra 1.4 in billy basic spec, terrible car, slow and handles like a sponge and had the little niggle of refusing to go into 1st gear unless I switched the car off sometimes. I changed jobs and was offered a company car again which I declined but was given anyway, the 2015 Clio 1.2 which I have to say was a good little car, would of liked more of a long 2nd gear but it handled very well, was pokey and relatively quick up to 40 and had all the kit inside. I changed to work in the Mortgage industry due to not wanting to be a professional Wan*er all my life and had to actually buy a car, the issue was that I moved into a new place and spent a lot of money on that plus the fact I had 0 no claims so the 1.4 Polo was bought, Initially seemed a goodish buy for £300, it was very tatty and dusty but it had potential, until the fateful drive that the coil pack went, I replaced it then I lost compression and the 02 sensor decided to disintegrate a few days later so I scrapped it a few weeks later.

"BonjourBtches!" I again needed a car at very short notice, after trawling AT, Ebay and FB (Desperate) I discovered a 2001 Citroen Saxo Furio VTR Rep compete with crotch dropper markings on the back seat, I thought this is the car for me and after meeting the seller who had a dislike for mostly anyone that wasn't English, I exchanged £250 notes for a Saxo that had 135k on the clock and a leaky sump  I replaced the sump, serviced the car myself (Skills getting better since I was 17) I found some VTS wheels which I refurbished and made the car actually look respectable, It was genuinely a very good drive and a quick car, it hugged the road on the TOYO'S and took it to 143k before I sold it as I needed a reliable "adult car" as my partner advised me. Along came the search for a newer car, again being me I refused to buy anything sensible so no corsa, astra, focus or any reliable options. I remembered an advert I liked with a dancing transformer car and set about buying one, seeing as all C4 Coupes seem to live in Kent, I waited until I saw a couple of good ones and made the trip, I unfortunately missed out on a Loeb Edition which has one of the best interiors period! Anyhow I saw a C4 and didn't really think it was that amazing for the money and ended up at the last C4 of the day, the 1.4 VTR with 52k on the clock, I checked the M.O.T history and all seemed well looked after and consistent, however the misery of a 1.4 engine in a larger car hung over me. Anyway I drove it and really liked it, cool interior, pokey engine and sat at 80mph fine in cruise control, I did not like the seller though who would have sold the car quicker had he shut up and not assumed that I have no knowledge on cars. Anyway we made a deal for a good price after I picked holes in his "Immaculate condition" which is not the same as mine. I drove the car home and apart from needing a service desperately and me breaking the glove box handle which has been ordered, I have done just over 2k and really recommend them, great looking car and durable but its French! I also liked it because the black one reminded me of the Saxo wink I am now looking to buy a second car to tinker with and use for track/weekends, again I'm so up for getting a Saxo VTR and doing this but am also looking at other options. I have included some random pictures of my cars at different stages for reference smile Hope I didn't bore you too much.

Please feel free to ask anymore detail / stories as I have many in the cars I have owned!

Well, one thing's for sure, you've owned a life time of st cars. Now try keeping down a job and buying something proper.

Jokes aside, must be interesting to try all the older tin, every one probably has bags of character (and plenty of stains by the sounds of it...)

hehe

I think you need to replace the gearknob and wheel centres on all those cars, with detailed how-to guides. wink

No replacing necessary as the missus already struggled getting her hands round the knob, however them centre caps do need replacing and I don't mind guiding! wink
