Lifespan of a bb60 bottom bracket

Yep I would say a year, somtimes less!
I used to rarely replace bottom brackets now of those on two bikes with similar BBs and they need to be done every year
I questioned this to the bike mechanic (good no nonsense bloke), he just said they treat them as disposable yearly change parts, as they are only £15 . Compared to my campy bikes , one of which had an older style BB, after 3 years that still ran really smooth, my current Campag bike has a Hope BB that was around £75. will be interesting to see if the £75 over £15 is justified.
To be fair then they "go" for me they just develop a bit of play and rattle, giving you enough notice to change.

Dunno about road stuff, but unfortunately, the MTB world doesn't revolve around square taper threaded BBs any more 
The days of 'BB gone? Stick in a UN52 for 12 quid (or 72 if you're feeling fancy) and we'll see you again in a year or two' are sadly resigned to the history books with the popularity of hollow axled 2 piece cranks.
On the plus side, the days of square tapers are gone.

Might be worth just removing the cranks and BB, giving them a good clean and grease, then refitting. I had all sorts of noises coming from my BB recently, particularly when riding out of the saddle, and they all went away after a good clean and refit. Check your chainring bolts are tight too as that can also cause creaks and cracks.

I`ve just been through all this and eventually changed the BB. It made no difference.It was the pedals in the end....

A good lesson for the OP then! Don't replace anything till you've checked everything elseMy stumpy has a PF30, had a clicking noise under load - turned out to be a bearing in the Nukeproof pedals... Then noticed it not spinning quite so well and spotted the BB was shot. Ordered 2 sets as Evans price matched to £28, the new one is revised where the plastic bearing seal slides over the crank. Wifeys bike is still OK though perhaps too much washing has shortened its life. First set was 14 months and could have got away with just bearings if I hadnt punched the carried out! still, the new ones are modified so lets see...
already swapped the pedals trying to find the problem, wasn't the cause of my issues. Looking at the BB I took off it looks fine, so it may have just needed re torquing, who knows, for 15 quid for one I can sort of live with replacing each year, given its a simple swap.
I have however found some wobble in my spare a530 pedals that I fitted to test, can you get rebuild kits for these as I was going to fit them to my lads bike. I know they aren't expensive but would rather rebuild than just throw away.
