Saw an ad for an 1997 SLK for sale. Looks OK in the ad and has an mot till 02/17.
However, it has the following advisories. Would you consider it or run away...thanks!
nearside front Inner rack movement
offside front Inner rack movement
centre rear Sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened Rear suspension corroded (2.4.G.1)
centre front Suspension corroded
nearside front Shock absorber has slight corrosion to the casing (2.7.2a)

Sadly from the era where corrosion protection wasn't great - accountants
. It actually looks quite good in the photos - only evidence being a bit on the rear arch but I'm sure you will see some in all the arches when you look.
As stated - I think the tester was just covering himself. There is another thread somewhere recently of a guy doing up his recent purchase. My 99 car has rust but its not as bad as many out there. If you go to the annual SLK event at Brooklands you will see all sorts of conditions - and if you sit in on the technical session you start to worry. This years was about rust. Shocking that some areas you would expect to be painted are actually only primed.
Now I've scared you - at that money - nice colour - and condition shown in the photo - if it were me I would go and take a look.
From my own perspective the seal sitting at the bottom of the rear window / top of boot lid is worth checking. £120 plus fitting. A lot cheaper than a soaked central locking pump that sits below it in and costs many hundreds - and its a common issue. They are hard to find in the scrap yards.
