Dear Pistonbrain,

Could somebody identify the black car in the middle for me please? It has me stumped, but that's no great surprise as it's a bit before my time. It also has my Dad stumpted, which is almost unheard of for cars of this era...

Fiat 1500 c/w front bonnet scoop, the gilbern has more flat front wings with an edge on top

I may not exactly leap to your defence, but I will lean slightly towards it and say that even though I know both cars well and would never confuse them, I do see where you are coming from.
Yes they are very different when you are wearing your specs, but there are definitely some styling similarities there that I have never previously noticed or even considered. So, thanks, you may feel that your suggestion was daft, but it has made me think and added to the endless car arguments perpetually going on in my head.

It is not a very flattering photo but I agree that it is a 1500s Osca.The 60-64 Fiat cabriolet range went through several face-lifts, I have a 63 1600s Osca which different again with twin headlights. With styling by Pininfarina there are of course close similarities with Lancias and others of the same era and not least of course the Peugeot 404 which is pretty well identical.

It's LHD unless someone has gone to a lot of expense converting it. Never officially sold in the UK. I agree that Pininfarina was not very adventurous at this time - everything looked generic.
