De-Catted E55 AMG (W210) questions..
Discussion
Hello,
I will be buying an E55 AMG W210, pre-facelift saloon on Saturday. I've been to look at the car, it's in really good condition (one of the very rare non-rusty ones
and not silver) FSH, gearbox has had regular maintenence etc. but it has the usual exhaust mod carried out of resonator and secondary cats delete. It's sounds like thunder
but I'm wondering if this mod is actually worse for performance? Has anyone here had the modification done and found otherwise? As I will be buying the car with it already carried out I have nothing to compare it to. I've read various posts on MB forums where owners claim to have more power and 'better' mpg but I'm not so sure.
The car is very nice and I will be taking it regardless, but I was hoping for feedback on this from experienced owners so can plan to revert the system back to standard in future if required.
TIA.

This is nothing like that
It's a lovely muted V8 burble at low speed with a nice growl when you press on. My 5 year old daughter loves it and says it roars like a lion
Cruising on the motorway it sounds no louder than my friend's completely standard W210 E320 V6.
So no 'chav' shenanigans here
In fact the chaviest thing about the car is the window tints which will be removed on weekend.
