Can anyone recommend a vacuum sealer? This one from Amazon has good reviews...

How much do the bags work out to be per meal does anyone know?

Bags work out about 10p each depending on size, and yes it will extend the shelf life of food although this is dependant on a number of factors, ie. food type, how its stored etc etc

One thing to note is that all the home machines struggle with anything containing liquids as this gets drawn into the area of the bag that seals (or doesn't if it has moisture on it).

Makes packing curries or sauce based meals a bit of a mission, ie, freeze in blocks before packing.

I hit the 'seal' button when it starts pulling the curry sauce towards the sealing point.

I think a lot of people are now using the zip lock bags and using water to expel the air.

Keep an eye on seller:nisbetscatering on fleabay.

I got a buffalo vac packer from them http://www.nisbets.co.uk/buffalo-light-duty-chambe...

As an open box return or something. Anyway it was unused brand new but no box and it's brilliant and was way way cheaper then new. Got bags from Amazon b

That's quite a machine!
Can't seem to find them on eBay but I'm on mobile atm. Will have a look on desktop tomorrow & thanks!
