I am 'considerably older than yaw' ...... well a few years and Porsche Insurance through Marsh is 200 less than that......

My DirectLine insurance is £390 for a new CGTS and I'm 10 years younger. I think your accident maybe hitting the quote harder than you think.

Been testing the insurance water too on my 718 Cayman S. I am of a similar age and Direct Line were overpriced and, if I recall, required a tracker so the latter ruled them out let alone the price.

Get on the comparo websites - should come out around £400 fully comp, NCD protected ( 10 years NCD for me) and £500-650 excess. Then protect your excess with a standalone policy to pay out in case the worse happens - this should cost about £50 for the year.

The 718 Cayman S is in an insurance group higher because it's faster!

Only kidding smile

Enjoy the new steed and its awesome sound.

I tried never mind the ferret and they where £750 !!my last insurance was for a V8 Mustang with Direct Line and it was only £360 which talking to others was competitive, mind you I have been a bit "silly" with the options so it's 62k....ooops

My Directline quote was .... £ 1,326 and Saga quote ... £ 1,951
Due to London Postcode and not kept in a brick garage .

However my renewal was £ 895 with Classicline ( + £ 100 on last year )

I think there is a tip over point in insurance I will run the quote again against a basic S see what the difference is.

I'm quoting for a 2.0 rather than a S, but I'm in a similar situation to you in that I have one non-fault accident in a company car, but have 8 years NCB in my personal car.

I'm 30 and live in the grim North and am getting quotes around £700-£800.

One thing I was wondering if people can clarify.... does the 718 come with a Tracker as standard?

I've seen reference to PVTS which appears to be fitted to most Porsches' but I'm not sure which tracker option I should be selecting when running insurance quotes?

Try quote with tracker fitted or without. Some require the telematics box being fitted (as if you would) The car comes with the tracker fitted if you want to activate it then Cobra are about £250 a year. Your first year with Porsche requires subscription anyway.

Saga was reasonable for me. Also it's new for old for the first two years which saves on GAP insurance.

I have multi car insurance and I got £383 from Admiral for adding my new 991.2 Carrera S onto the policy. In Surrey, 47yo and on driveway. Couldn't believe how cheap that was smile

If the policy is not return to invoice or invoive plus you might get a nasty shock i.e. base car price 50k and 12k options added giving invoice price if 62k. If you make a successful claim then Saga buys you a new base car for 50k or coughs up the 50k in the cash.

Definitely worth asking for a written statement from Saga defining the exact terms if this is of any relevance to you financially and, if not, it may be to others.

Aside from location, garage and licence history,

age of car (>5 years to 10 years get discounts)
annual mileage (for me 12k v 3k is extra £400)
value and whether agreed value or not
excess (for me £750 v £250 saves £400)

911 come with pre-fitted tracker. Boxman do not I believe. They can be either factory fit or dealer retrofit.

Yes 911 comes with a tracker but you need to pay to activate it with Vodaphone. £400 for two years.
