TV State of the Art

I suppose I could buy a magazine but more fun to ask the PH congregation; whats the best large screen TV available (or just about to be available) ?
We will be completing revamp of the main lounge before Christmas and I need to get up to speed on what's the best technologies / brands. Ideally I want to go to 75" - I don't know if that rules out OLED?
Last time I did this exercise it seemed Samsung was the top of the heap and all the talk was about 3D.
I suppose that carbon dates it to around 4 years ago.
I'm happy enough with the Samsung TV's we have had but I'm less impressed with their Smart software and their willingness to just stop supporting a model after a while - all our Smart TV apps disappeared from our 7ish year old one last week!
I realise this new TV will be expensive and will be around for a while so support from the manufacturer is important to me.
But ultimately its image quality that matters.

75" doesn't rule out oled but the £16K+ price might!
At that size the options are normally something like the ZD9 LED Sony or a projector set up.
Drop to 65" and it's difficult to recommend anything other than the latest LG oLED screens - calibrated and fed with 4K HDR looks stunning but excellence comes at a price - a very, very good picture is available from SUHD Samsungs at larger screen sizes for less money but the blacks from oled can be addictive.

Loewe Bild 7

About £6500 for the 65" version. I'd buy one if I could afford it

Loewe have just launched a new range of screens, however the Sony mentioned above is also getting rave reviews in the trade press.
I like the sony look and feel, but Samsung is hard to beat for tech / performance / price.
Got to find an 88" curved for a client's project and Samsung have just changed thier product range again!

Sony ZD9 75" is the only LCD I would consider at that size, it has decent direct backlighting with 600+ zones that can turn on/off so you get pretty decent blacks without bright info on screen washing out the areas near by.
But for me it would be the Loewe Bild 7.65, I know it is a 65" but I think it is still a better image. It is based on the LG E6 panel but with Loewes processing.
I still think as an all round image OLED is so much easier to watch, sure there are things the best LCDs do better, but I want to watch a TV without seeing niggles no matter what I am watching, and that is far more impressive than getting blown away by certain demo clips etc.
That is the thing with some of the new HDR LCDs, they are stunning with the right material, but 75% of the time I am watching 1080 TV and that is where I prefer OLED, and even when watching HDR material it is still 50/50 on which is better.
If it has to be a 75" then the Sony ZD9 imho, if you can live with a 'small' 65" then the Loewe Bild 7.65 or the LG E6 (or G6) that it is based on.
