sitting in traffic....temp rising.....95...100.....fan should start kicking just about now, but doesnt....106...BANG!!! f**KING WATER ANTIFREEZE/STEAM pissing everywhere like a f**king fountain!!!

luckily space at side of this really busy raod

fan was seized. but that was not the problem. system is stable normally up to 121C but couldnt even handle 106!!

checked hoses fine. radiator must have a crack or something.

recovery truck today picked it up. F**king dealer saying i might have to pay for the £60 pick up charge evn though its under warranty then reluctantly said well if we find its something thats covered by it then you wiont need to pay it....of course its covered its the f**king radiator.

Thats Murray in Glasgow btw the way. numpties.

They dont give me a free courtesy car when the cars developed a fault that is covered by the warranty!!!

I say well its a problem thats not my fault then they say well its not our fault either!!!!!!!!!!!!1

sorry to read that,

I don't see a problem, and no argument about the this NOT being covered by the most simple of warranties, basically it's not wear and tear. Get the list of other items you have been having trouble with and submit the lot. The car as you have discribed over the last few days is "Not fit for purpose" this term you should say to your dealer when you next see him.

K - that's a serious fecker mate and sounds like the dreaded HGF. No way should the car be running regularly at temps that high. Fan should kick in around 96deg IIRC and you should be worried if it's constantly running at 100+

With all the problems you've had I dare say you may have a case under consumer law to return the car as "not fit for purpose" and demand a full refund from the dealer.

Have a chat to your local Citizens Advice Bureau and see what they say.

Very best of luck - gutted for you that it's been such a ballache, have a go at the dealer and see if you can get shot or at least get all the repairs to all the problems you've had fixed under warranty (assuming of course it's covered).

If the dealer gives you no joy you could try Lotus Customer Services (if its still under Lotus warranty) and see if they'll help you resolve the matter without recourse to vindictive lawyers etc.

Incidentally, Ted has a no naming and shaming policy on PH so you might want to edit your post above. I know its a PiTA but best not to let emotion get you in trouble.

Best of luck

I have not heard any good comments about this dealer. A mate bought a 111R from them months ago and had to return it to get rattles and loose bolts sorted. Never got fixed apparently.

Cant beleive this is the only dealer in scotland ! service costs are way more expensive than down south. Its putting me off saving for a 111R at all !
