If you're lucky, it'll be given a resounding thumbs-down at the regional ballot box. They tried it up here and got sent away with a flea in their ear...

Think the idea of Regional Assemblies is have soem power taken away from Whitehall Beaucrats and as a replacement for County Councils.

Lets take are our region for example how possibly can County Councils make Long Term planning strategy they cover to smaller area.

If you take powers away from Central Government and local councils-REAL powers-then you have no overall change in the amount of government.

50p per year? Hardly expensive! It is a small organisation of people working hard for the interests of the region.

The Facts!

same as the proposal up here 50p maximum in the first year or two and then they can set the price to be what-ever their little warped minds desire.

Plus of course they won't actually have any powers other than to talk to each other and then make a proposal to the real goverment...

Stupid, stupid ideas of implementation on an otherwise sound ideal.

The facts as written by someone with a vested interest. Up north they have had a chance to vote on this, down here in the south we haven't, and as I understand it we won;t either. Just been foisted on us.

Its a biyt like now instead of an area health authorities we have lord knows how many Parish Health Councils or something, add to this a Partnership for this, that and the whatever, its bureaucracy (or however you spell it) gone mad.

I see the members are elected by local councillors or other voluntary bodies. A significant number of our local councillors are not elected as weren;t enough candidates to form a vote! Also what are these voluntary organisations? A bunch of do-gooders?

We already have 3 levels of local government, what is this needed for?

Bollocks...It's a group of people creating their own, pointless little empire....a complete waste of money.

It's also the means by which Brussels intends to divide us and rule us.

If you think it's going to be 50p, you're a dreamer, sir......

50p from many millions of people is A LOT of money. Its another 50p ON TOP of all the other shite taxes and stealth taxes we have at the moment.

Why the flying Fruck do I want another level of beurocracy? anther load of twits to waste my money. Yes my money.

I earn it and I pay tax. I dont want to pay more tax just to have more twits build a ra building which goes over budget, sents them on fact finding missions abroad and then screws you over.
