Agreed. The "normal" University challenge with him on was a revelation - the man is astonishingly well-educated...but still retains humility and humour, very refreshing compared to the hordes of egotistical "celebrities" we are lumbered with on TV nowadays.

With the old U-Challenge episode in my memory I kept rough count last night - Steven Fry vs. the other 7...and it was very close!
