Anyone had "service vehicle soon" come up?
Discussion
Hi
Wondering if anyone has had "service vehicle soon" come up on a regular basis on startup?
No other messages are dispayed and the car runs fine as far as I can tell?
My car has a performance intake and borla exhaust and the only fault I can see is that the right rear tyre sensor is not displaying? Oil is displayed at 40%
Ive heard that Mildenhall has a GM diagnostic centre and wonder if anyone has used it?
Cheers

From what I can remember the Service Soon display is when there could be something wrong with the electrics or one of the systems, think thats what the handbook says.
First thing to do would be to 'check the codes'. Turn the ignition on but dont start the car, clear any messages on the DIC, hold down options and press fuel 4 times.
The car will then run through diagnostics and show fault codes. Try and write them down and then check the link below for what they are: Note down whether there is an H or a C or both after each code. H is history and C is current.

This should give you a good idea if somethings wrong.

Get the same thing on my Silverado. Normally happens when I have just filled it up. Seems, on the truck, to be something to do with the computer analysing the emissions. Light tends to go out when the tank gets emptier which is quite quick, normally! Just when it has gone out, I fill it up again and back it comes again!
The truck forums don't seem to worry about it too much.

Hi EricTB
Could be the fuel you are using is too rich for the truck.
I had this problem with filling up the Z06 in Sweden this one time. Next time I filled up it was fine. Someone suggested it might be either the fuel or the fuel cap had not been done up tight.
Do you always fill up at the same place? or use the same brand of fuel?

Interesting!?!

This is intended to reset that aggravating 'Service Engine Soon' light so many of us seem to see. The light is normally set due to a loose gas cap or a high frequency error on the mass air flow sensor in front of the intake manifold. If the light persists, you may want to have you car checked by a GM dealer. It may be a good idea to remove your K&N air filter, and replace it with the stock filter or equivalent before your visit to the dealer. Dealers, in the past, have been known to blame the MAS error on excessive oil in the K&N leaking onto the MAS. If the fuses aren't removed in this procedure, the codes will be stored in the ECM until the fuses are removed, or the dealer clears them with a scan tool. Rumors have it that stored codes retard timing and spark ignition which will hender the performance of you LS1.
1. Turn key on but don't start car.
2. Pull PCM BAT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment.
3. Wait a few minutes.
4. Turn ignition off.
5. Replace fuses.
It will take the car a while to relearn the fuel and timing curves so don't worry about a temporary performance loss
