I've got a Seiko 5 sports automatic which I wear everyday and love.

However, it's never been accurate and currently loses about a minute a day. So I've been researching Seiko servicing and it appears to cost the same as the watch did in the first place. None of my local watch repairers will touch it.

Does PH know of any alternatives? Or should I just put it in a drawer and go back to Creation?

What prices have you been quoted, how attached to the watch are you and what are you prepared to pay?

I've used Watcdoctors in Tring, not for a Seiko, but have just bought one so interested in future service costs.
Basic service from them starts at £46

I had mine serviced three months ago, at £56

It probably would be cheaper just to replace but the sentimental value outweighed the cost

Mine is more accurate than my Britling ... and that's a chronometer eek

I've been quoted something like £85, which is more or less what I paid. I am attached to it but I can get a new one for about £90 though there is a risk of accuracy with that too. I'd pay £50 to get it fixed I think.

Thanks for the watchdoctors link. I'll check them out.
