Rad cowling bolts
Discussion
Hi all
So the radiator's coming out this weekend so I can find out where a small coolant leak's coming from - narrowed it down to either a worn bottom hose or a split in the alloy rad.
I have a new set of silicone hoses and some low temp alloy solder on hand so fairly confident I can fix whatever the issue is, however I understand the bottom bolts for the cowl are likely to be dust so want to pick some fresh ones up before Saturday.
I've had a quick Google and can't seem to ID a source - any ideas?
If it makes a difference it's a 97 serp 450 with an alloy rad with original cowling fitted.
Thanks in advance!

I've got an alloy one so don't know if you can do this on the originals, but I bought some m6 chimney nuts and wing bolts for the bottom ones. Now I can undo the bottom ones with little hassle and remove the cowlings before I remove the radiator which makes it 10x easier to get mine out.
see if you can barrow a digi caliper, Zeus book, and 2 sets of thread gauges metric and imperial just in case, then you will have no problems ID bolts.
Or take one in to you local back street engineering firm or garage, I am sure they will do it for a couple of packs of chocolate chip cookies

I bought my last bolts from Screwfix - stainless steel round headed hex bolts ... I cant remember whether they were 6mm or 5mm but they were so cheap for a bag I bought both. You only need short ones so I think I got 15mm.
Phil
I think your right they are M5 Phil

Yes they are cheap as cookies
