Stolen E-type.

Last night at 9pm a club member arrived in Dover and, being tired, decided to stay at the Premier Inn for the night. The thief was caught on CCTV walking up to the car, and four minutes later he had left with it. It is a 1962 E-type FHC, Opalescent dark blue with light grey interior and registration 827 DXD Photo to follow. This car was only restored last year.

Sorry to hear that Tony, have you or the owner posted this on FaceBook? If so I will share it among the car groups I below to. Really sorry to hear this news, hope for a good outcome.
Circumstances sound a little unusual though, does an opportunist thief normally go for something as noticeable as an E Type especially at, one presumes a late hour?
Secondly, having spent several thousands of pounds why was the car left with the wherewithal to so easily steal it?
Classic car theft is reasonably prevalent these days why on earth wasn't there a tracker or serious immobiliser fitted?
Chrome wires, cooper brakes maybe a T5? and certainly the correct factory trim colour but no anti theft....

ds!With due respect, the criticism isn't helping. I am as guilty as anyone, if not more so, of not taking time to secure my car properly if I am tired after a long journey and find a hotel for the night. Will I remember to use the battery cut-out if all that is in my mind is a meal and a glass of wine before hitting the pillow? I am glad that the news is getting around, and for me it seems that this was more a casual theft than a planned one. Let's hope the car is found. Fingers crossed.

Mr Carr, you are leaving yourself open to a police visit. How could you have known that the car had all of these modifications? Moreover, your profile gives your business telephone number. Just in the middle of a restoration and the last thing on my mind is immobiliser and as for trackers a waste of time,my mate's van was stolen,when the van was found due to a roadside check(the driver was wanted for another crime) the tracker had been removed even the locks where the same just the code in the factory fitted immobiliser had been changed.When leaving my cars out at night I just try and keep them out of sight,what you can't seen etc.Good luck finding her.
