Nissan qashqai 1.5 diesel will not run
Discussion
Hi
First post,hoping someone can help.
I have the above car on a 57 plate and everything was fine until we parked up last week end.
We came back after about an hour and the car started fine but when I tried to pull of there was just no power and could not rev up the engine but when we tried to it would smoke badly so we had to call out a recovery company to take us home, they told us it was the turbo blown. When we got home I whipped off the turbo hose and sure enough the turbine had play in the bearings and a lot of end float. I bought a turbo and fitted it, I also fitted a new air and fuel filter and now the car still starts ok but will only Rickover for about 5 seconds.
Any ideas?

Did you prime the fuel system? Some of the Renault/Nissan diesels have an electric lift pump in the tank, but others have a rubber bulb to prime the system, like on an outboard motor tank.
I've just fitted a new fuel filter to a diesel Renault Megane, didn't prime it properly and it ran for 5 seconds then cut out (presumably once all the fuel in the lines ran out and it hit air). Wouldn't restart after that.I thought they were self-bleeding too. The Renault forums advocate disconnecting the line from the filter to the HP pump, then manual pumping diesel into a container to fill the filter.
Then reconnect, and get someone to crank the car while you pump some more.
Some say the car might show an injector error which can be cleared when the air is out of the system.
My manual only describes pumping the bulb till the fuel lines are full.
If this gets you nowhere, then chances are there's an air leak on one of the fuel lines or the filter housing.
