Well after nearly seven years of Porsche ownership the time has come for a change. And for someone who usually keeps his cars for at least three years, this is testament to the all round appeal of the car. I've loved owning my 987.1 - from the beautifully balanced chassis to the evocative sounding flat six, there was nothing not to like. But I felt I needed a change, and after driving a Cayman GTS I thought I'd found a suitable replacement. But then I test drove an Audi R8 and there was no going back. What a machine, and the sound of that V10 at 8000 rpm is pure petrolhead porn. Anyway, last Monday I went over to Northern Ireland and concluded a deal on a 2010, 25,000 mile manual coupe, and it's now sat in my driveway. To say I'm happy is a massive understatement, but I shall feel quite sorry when my Cayman is collected on Monday by 911V who have purchased it. I've no doubt that I shall be back at some point in the future, but for now it's auf wiedersehen.

Hmm.... tell me.... What's so appealing about a Mid Engined, low slung, sublime handling, 4WD supercar with an NA V10 engine producing 500 odd HP through a MANUAL gearbox.......

Thanks Rob. The power is the obvious difference from the Cayman as you would expect with 500+ bhp. The steering is very communicative and probably as close to a Porsche as anything I've driven in a while. I haven't started to exploit the handling yet, but initial impressions are very favourable and with an 80/20 percent power split to the rear wheels, you can feel the back coming into play.
