Why is it that when one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong ?

Need to replace the bumper on my car due to a slight misjudgement in the snow last week. Then the car started overheating on Friday, not got the parts I need in the local dealership so had to order them,(think it's only the thermostat hopefully) Then the washing m/c starts playing up,(this time the wife hadn't overloaded it) then the central heating boiler starts to play up again.
it's all £££££

just waiting for something else to go bang now.

tell me about it. weeks of trouble free motoring, then the driveshaft seals on the mini fail and spew the contents of the sump all over the road - I also discover then that it needs new upper and lower ball joints, two cv joints and a steering rack gaiter. then I break the diff on the Ginetta (big ££££££) and decide I'll buy a reliable car for a change and it breaks down the moment I drive it away, get it fixed and service it and it blows something serious and can't be driven!

I've had a truly bloody awful week for car ownership

Oh tell me about it!

I've had possibly the worst week on record. First things, had flu. Not normal flu, the type of flu you usually have when you're about 6. Ragingly high temperature and just want to die. Felt so ill so I had to miss a pack of lectures at university and a very important seminar. Tutor didn't really appreciate my illness!
Finally got over that, then on Thursday I couldn't stop being sick and was ill in bed AGAIN. Before Thursday night having an impromptu meeting with my (now ex) BF (who lives in London and had come down especially AND to university) to break up with me. Perfect timing! So after two years I'm now single AND I'm still ill

It gets worse, much worse.

Came out of university this morning to go to my car, normal as I usually go home for the weekend. My car had been broken into and my stereo stolen along with every CD I had in the glove compartment (A lot). They hadn't taken the 6 CD Changer in the back though. I could've sworn I'd put the alarm on...!

And then to top it off. I broke down on the motorway. I've had the car all of a month. Am hopelessly broke at the moment after spending too much buying said car and I still don't know what's wrong with it.

It's my 21st on Monday

I know you're all probably bored to fe**ing death of hearing this but life could be a whole sh**e side worse.

Whenever I'm on a bit of a downer I just think of all those poor starving African kids who don't even have a bed to sleep in at night.

Chin up guys things will get better I promise you.

um, Minimax, somehow you having problems with cars doesn't surprise me Shame mind - how on earth did you destroy the diff (anything as "impressive" as racing a Griff500 down the coast road in favour of your gearbox?)

MimiB, ouch. Using my wonderful thought process called hindsight, you should do what I and carry everything with you - leave nothing in your car (then again, my security involves a zip . And apart from something going desperatly wrong on your 21st, I don't think you can beat mine (the one where I was told I was a disgrace to my family by my grandmother, destroyed the clutch on my car - an engine out repair which took a month, missed seeing the band I'd be waiting for months to see (because of said car), didn't speak to my sister for nigh on a week due to the birth of her baby and in an entirely selfish manor, didn't get much attention from anyone due to sister been in hospital from 7AM on my birthday). It's my birthday again soon I'm leaving the area for the day, walking!

I was told at Uni t'other day that been a pessimist had an advantage - I'd be able to write good contracts

docevil? What did you do to be told you are a "disgrace to your family"?

I'm sure I'll get told that one day

instead of going to see my sister drugged up and sleeping in hospital (and who came out the next day) I tried to go see the band whom I had tickets to see for nigh on half a year and was desperatly excited about.

It's still a sore subject (indeed I don't really speak to my gran any more) and whilst I have very low expectations in life, one had hoped that maybe my sister and family would be eager to say at least "happy birthday" near the event (circumstances suggest not on the day itself however) - my big sister didn't call me for over a week, there was no meal, no celebration... nothing (a friend did spend the day with me which meant an awful lot, but whilst I think of him almost as a brother, he's not my big sister). Suffice to say any celebrations to me now mean nothing at all.

I find I'm not so much accident-prone, as other-peoples-cockup-prone.

I find I can never actually make any kind of arrangement or plan anything at all, as relying on anyone will always result in the same thing - me, standing somewhere, in the dark/cold, on my own, for half an hour at least, making phone calls every five minutes.

If I make an arrangement with anyone, we'll decide what we're doing, agree on it all, then they won't turn up/do their bit, and most annoyingly, don't turn their bloody phone on so I can find out why.

Of course when I do finally get through to them, it always turns out that they seem to plan a multitude of arrangements for the same day, then pick and choose when the time comes, and ignore all the others.

As a result, I seem to always end up doing absolutely nothing (haven't been out properly in 2 weeks) because I've trusted someone else to be where they said they'd be, and I've planned around it.

And I wouldn't mind, but it happens to me on an almost daily basis (last 4 days running, with different people, and counting). I've started going to pubs and clubs on my own en spec, and doing whole chunks of project work myself, as I'm more likely to bump into people I know and have a good night, or actually finish group work on time, than if I'd planned anything.

It just seems that I can't rely on anyone to do anything, and I've deduced that either I must be a sucker for unreliability, or that the people I call friends actually, secretly, can't stand me but are too nice to tell me to my face so they'd rather lie to me instead.

So of course, rather than being able to find out what went wrong, or what I've done wrong, I'm just constantly kept in the dark, like I don't 'get' the joke or something.

Anyone else find themselves in the same position at all? Please don't tell me it's just me!

Pfft. Men So off them now! I'll have to have an incredibly amazing reason to go near them for the next year, I reckon! Well and truly dumped out-of-the-blue

Re; Cd's. I usually take them out, but I thought that out of sight = safe. Ha. Ha. Ha. Obviously not! Idiot here left the front to radio in there too!
