My parents had some Springbok Pop Art ones, 500 pieces, each one different.

They were lying on the living room table and it turned out to be a family affair,

whenever one of us had a few minutes we would try to get a few pieces in.

Still have them somewhere.

Never tried the Beresford though.

Tried one once.

Said 3-4 years on the box but only took me about 30 minutes.

Didn't bother after that. silly

This is what I do, when I feel I have the time

Excellent software. Use one of your own photos or find something on line, play on a computer screen (I use two). I will never bother with a traditional jigsaw again.

I don't like jigsaws but I am a Chelsea fan, which is similar at the moment, as we seem to go to pieces in the box.

Being doing them on and off all my life, very relaxing but the time flies by.

Yeah, if I want a couple of hours relaxing on an evening I'll fish one out, I have a board so they can stay semi-finished for long periods.

I bought a bunch of Wasgij's from Home Bargains when they were flogging them for £3, the ones with no picture, I also get the Waddingtons 'limited' Christmas one every year. I've got a wardrobe full in the loft of just jigsaws. The biggest is 9000 pieces.

I once completed a 4999 piece jigsaw - "Frustrating" does not even begin to describe it.

I usually buy the parents a jigsaw as a Christmas present. Trouble I'm finding is it's getting difficult to find a shop that sells a decent selection that are actually photographs - the majority seem to be paintings or drawings. I did have a local shop that I dropped on, but they closed down last year. There used to be a shop in Manchester Arndale Centre that sold nothing but jigsaws, but that went years ago. For some reason I don't fancy buying one on-line, I'd like to see it to get an idea of quality etc.

There was a bookshop up near Piccadilly Station called Ian Allens, they had great jigsaws, just asked himself and he is not sure if it's still there or closed down, could be worth investigating.

Also try Toys R Us.

I stopped doing traditional puzzles because they were hurting my neck. I tried propping the board up at an angle but despite using materials that the pieces were supposed to stick to, they never really did.

That's when I started doing them on the computer, the fact that all the pieces were the right way up, and the program would sort out all the edge pieces, was an unexpected but very welcome bonus. No more neck ache, and no more searching for decent puzzles.

Cheers, I have been in Ian Allens several times (was still there in March) and seen some there, I'll have another look. I think last years was from Toys R Us, not a massive selection in my local one at the time, unless I'd just left it too near to Christmas.
