Help with west London routing

Starting a new job near Olympia and cycled there for the 1st time today.
I'm used to cycling into the City/West End from the south and south east where I hardly hit any stationary traffic. But this morning it was just full of cars all the way from Clapham Common to Olympia (going across Battersea Bridge then up the A3220). The road is narrow too with no bus or cycle lanes so really hard work to make much progress safely.
Are there any alternate routes that don't involve having to play chicken with motorbikes coming the other way?
