Taking delivery of a 991 GTS on Saturday and they are supplying new tyres all round.

The OPC have said that the only options available to me for that car in N-rated are:

Dunlop Sport Maxx (GT4 brigade dont like them)
Pirelli P-Zero (Always heard they have pretty bad reviews)

Anyone have any experience as to which one would be best?

Its really disappointing that there are no other options for my car. I have tried Camskills, Oponeo, Mytyres and blackcircles but to no avail....
I'd like some Contact 6 / Mich Supersport or Goodyear Eagles but no can do it seems?!

Just found this - http://www.evo.co.uk/features/18309/the-best-tyres...

'N' rated - is there an issue with going non 'N' rated? Tyre technology improves all the time and I know the OEM tyres for my car have been superseded by much better tyres.

Its a good point but Porsche are supplying them to me FOC with the car so I have to have N rated tyres.

I think I'm going to ask them very nicely if they will consider Cup 2's as my other choices are poor.

I have PZero's on mine and have no complaints, nothing to compare them too but certainly no issues in the wet (other than a big moment aquaplaning last week but that was my fault).

Try to get the new spec Pzeros I'd say. There is a tread pattern difference vs the previous one which was rather rubbish to identify them. I believe the .2 Porsches are delivered with these now and they are supposed to be a very significant improvement (they are part of the reason for excellent track times on the german mag tests imo).

Hi Dave,i;ve just had a bright idea:why don,t you break into OPC Bolton and repossess the cup 2's from your outgoing GT4 and switch them with either of the other twoidea.Seriously the Dunlop SM are a totally different tyre to the Dunlop Race Max on my GT4 which i'm pleased with for fast road use.

The newer, N1 P-Zeros are good. Have them on my Spyder and it grips superbly.

I'm no fan of the Pirelli's. I'd take anything they offer over the old P Zeros.

Thanks for all your comments above and John, yes stealing my old ones would be great. Can I use one of your tractors to drive through the front doors?!

There are indeed some new P-Zero's which seem to be a lot better than the old ones. They were launch this year.

I'll go with those! Result.

I been told by Porsche UK that they don't make the tread pattern which you'll see in the link below in anything wider than a 265.
As a result the tyres fitted to my car 305/30/20 rears are stamped month 24 / 2016 so very recently made but have the same / old treat pattern as before.

I guess the construction is different now. The Porsche tyre guy told me that they had a lot of cracking issues before and that they have remedied it. I checked a few new 991.1's in the car park at Reading and they are all on the old P Zero treat patterns albeit with I assume the new construction.

The below link is the new PZero but to a max 265 section apparently. Apart from these and Dunlop Sportmaxx SP, there is nothing else approved by Porsche that we can fit to our cars at the moment.
