thinking of fitting these headers but have been warned that they can sometimes trigger the EML and there is no cure - replacing the lambda sensors doesnt reliably get rid of the issue.

So has anyone here fitted the Capristo system and then had to take it off again?

Any header/cat that reduces the effect on the gases will likely trigger an error.
There are many solutions:

Capristo make a simulator
http://www.capristo.de/en/exhaustsystems/einzelkom...

You can use a OBDii plugin to check and remove the error using your smart phone

OBDii CEL delete dongle
http://www.armytrix.com/shop/armynator-cel-delete-...

Mini cats can be added to the sensors

You can program out the error from the ECU caused by the header/cat change

The capristo solution requires that you install their box before fitting the new headers so that it can 'learn' the default settings. Fine if you havn't already installed the headers.

A simple solution is the have the ecu's mapped which will fix the problem.

It doesn't, Capristo will supply a standard settings if you ask them.

But reading between the lines, the issue of the EML coming on when using capristo headers is a real one and not just the dealer trying to put me off.

I dont have a header problem but as far as I can gather, its only a matter of time on a 430. Then the options are Capristo or similar or Ferrari replace systems. The Capristo risks the EML issue. The Ferrari replace are guaranteed for all of a year which is useless. So what to do?

I have had capristo manifolds fitted for a year now and have had no issues at all.
Except for greater petrol consumption due to going faster to her that glorious exhaust note lol

The greater fuel consumption could be the result of the changed exhaust / cat temperature feeding back to the ECU. Thats part of the engine management light problem.

Not quite clear what answer you are looking for? If you replace the standard headers which have pre-cats with any header that doesn't have a pre-cat (not aware of any aftermarket headers with a pre-cat) you run the risk of possibly throwing an error - there is a cat missing! Fitting the standard Ferrari headers again is generally thought to be a bad move as in the case of failure (which has happened numerous times) there is a real danger of bits of pre cat being sucked back into the engine and causing a total failure - under warranty it is bad news but is at least covered by Ferrari, out of warranty the costs are huge. There are numerous options to remove the CEL error if changing headers to a version without a pre-cat causes an issue.
The Scud headers have no pre-cats but to stop the CEL being triggered Ferrari fitted an air rail to inject fresh air. (I'm not technical so please chime in if you are more technically aware)

I'm trying to find a way of tackling the issue which doesnt void the Ferrari warranty FWTW, and also doesnt involve regular exhaust manifold replacement.

Its far from certain that if the manifolds do fail during the guarantee period, which is only 12 months, that Ferrari would pick up the bill for a lunched engine. Outside the 12 months I would be surprised if they would.

If you have Ferrari warranty then for sure OEM is your only choice for headers, I don't think there is any way around this.
I doubt very much that the manifolds will fail in the first 12 months but have to say I would expect if you keep up annual warranty for the engine to be covered if and when the headers fail - have you been informed otherwise? It is a tricky dilemma bearing in mind the warranty aspect. There are options to improve the muffler mounting to decrease the stress on the headers which won't void the warranty and help improve the durability - Capristo make mounts which supposedly decrease the stress.

Sorry mate the greater fuel consumption bit was a little humour hence the mention of "going faster to here that glorious exhaust note"

Have had the Capristo headers fitted to my 430 nearly three years ago and to date have had no problems at all. It sounds fantastic, the only downside is Ferrari will not give a warranty on the car, but Warranty Wise would and to date I have found it very good with absolutely no issues when making a claim.

I've fitted the big daddy mini-cats in the past to cure the cat inefficiency CEL. On Friday I fitted a pair of these UK supplied ones: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00H9B0DX2/sr=8-7/qid=...

I was impressed with the quality and am hopeful they will cure the CEL.
