Morning all,

I've got a problem with my hazard lights at the moment, whereby they are flashing every 6 to 8 seconds or so. They illuminate for the correct amount of time but that 6 or 7 second gap is consistent. Also the little red LED on the dash was flashing pretty fast. It only happened for the first time this morning. Key was out of the ignition. I had got in and out a couple of times so can't remember if I had locked it when I got out for the first time. Locking and unlocking a few times seems to have stopped it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Peter

Keep an eye on it and see how it progresses.

Four years ago my car was fine one evening, when I locked the car.
But when I came out to it the next morning I noticed that the passenger side indicators front and back were on, but permanently, not flashing. And the battery was close to flat, certainly wouldn't turn the engine over.

I contacted Carl Baker, as I also had hot start issues, and he diagnosed a failing alarm and a wrongly wired, by the factory, immobiliser. He fitted a new system, adding a remote boot opener on the key, and I have never has issues since.

So I think your issue may be early signs of a similar issue.

Thanks for the info. The alarm was actually fitted by Carl Baker. I only got the car recently so not sure what type it is but it was fitted by him around 3 to 4 years ago. It could be the same type as yours, with a yellow button on the side of the fob for boot release and isolating the interior movement sensor. I am nowhere near him unfortunately but I will contact him if symptoms persist.

Cheers

It could also be that you had, by getting in and out of the car, triggered the alarm movement sensor yourself. I have found that I can sometimes start the car with the alarm still activated but the immobiliser deactivated, but after a while the alarm goes off (generally outside the primary school at brat collection time!!).

Worth testing your alarm to see if the sounder is still active. Lock the car with you in it, wait for it to fully arm, then start moving about!!
