Cameras on M27

Going westbound on the M27 today (about Souhampton) and I spotted 2 blokes on the flyover wearing Hi-vis vests. There also was a camera on a very long pole facing down towards the carriageway, it looked like a CCTV type camera(white). It didn't look as though they had anything to do with the cameras but can't be sure.

The flow of traffic was about 80 and I spotted them a long way off when I was doing 82, then tucked up behind another car and was doing 70 when passing the bridge.

Anybody know what breed of cameras they are? They looked a bit like traffic master to me but not blue.

I hope I won't be receiving a brown letter through the post and mess my nice clean license up.

It might just be a survey company - in the past (read student days) i worked for one of these companies and they basically either get you to watch the traffic or they set up some cctv to do it for you. Probably one of these. Don't worry!

Yes, iirc they did look quite young, that may well be it. After thinking about it I thought they might be ANPR but I think you're right Miniandy.

These definitely are paranoid driving days.
The thing is it's got to be dangerous as everybody has their eyes to the sky and there is chaos for a few seconds.
