Had the day off yesterday with a couple of my weekend riding buddies and popped over to the New Forest to ride last weekends Wiggle New Forest Epic 100.

First 100 miler for us - we usually meet up for a weekend 35 with the occasional 50-65 but had wanted to chalk off a 100 miler this year.

We had intended to do C2C in a day but had shelved that a few months back as i'd been having some slight chest tightness at the time which needed investigating (nothing found). The New Forest ride was a perfect alternative as its only an hour away so didn't require any overnighters.

We were blessed with pleasant weather barring a 10 minute shower at the beginning with a little bit of wind for the 2nd 50 but thats to be expected as its quite open in areas.

75 miles felt good but I had to ride through a sore knee for the last 25 and new bibs which had started to chafe my cheeks (never used bum cream before but I may have to give it a whirl) ! It was however a real sense of achievement when we finished and leaves me even more in awe of Gruffy's recent Transcontinental.

Hoping the weather is going to stay nice for the Farnborough Flyer on the 16th October:

If it stays dry i'll be riding the 75 which links together a lot of my local Hampshire rides:

Nice one, Mr Pot Odds!

And thanks for that link to the Farnborough Flyer. Although £24 would seem quite steep (for me, at least) I might be tempted to have a crack at this one. Very close to home for me, so no problems getting there. All I've got to do now is check with my fixture secretary to see that nothing else is planned for that day.

Looks like a cheeky route too. If it's ridden anti-clockwise it'll come back in from Bentley UP Hole Lane. A lot of nice roads and villages on the route.

The Flyer is looking fairly light on signed up riders (around 150) but I'm guessing there are plenty like me who'll decide on the day based on weather.

Fingers crossed for a sunny day.

I may be up for this, although having just returned from Tenerife that week passes may be a bit light to disappear for all of Sunday morning. Seeing as it goes out and back past Redfields I may just tag on and save the trip to Farnborough.

Did the same yesterday with two colleagues.

We could'a been faster but had to keep stopping for one of us to catch up and I was struggling a bit with a bout of sinusitus. No big deal. Still rather pleased with myself.

Freezing cold when we set off and reckon my fingers only thawed out after about two hours.

I'm not inclined to want to go any further but will work on doing the same route in a more respectable time next year.

Some great 100's there !

Liking the L2B and back - having done the L2B a few years back it sounds an interesting challenge.

Fair play for the chilly 100 as well - tonight was my 1st colder ride this end of the year (required a base layer) - not sure i'd fancy 100 in the cold though so top effort.

That's up my neck of the woods so I may well investigate the route - looks good!

I also popped my 100m cherry earlier this year - https://www.strava.com/activities/691004323

Great achievement to tick off!
