I am just popping out - V8 Vantage S - 20,000 Mile Report
Discussion
After previous 10,000 mile and 16,000 mile reports (see the last one here
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
my car a Lightning Silver V8 Vantage S, owned by me from new clocked up 20,000 miles this past week so I thought it time for another update. The paintwork has held up brilliantly due to the Paddy applied G-Techniq Crystal Serum and I still have never washed the car which lives on the drive and is my daily driver (it just gets detailing spray once a week). The Iron Ore Red interior also shows no sign of wear at all.
Car was serviced back in August at AM Bristol at the very reasonable fixed price service rate and two warranty repair items were noted which will be taken care of this week:
1. Passenger Door Mirror slow to retract - motor assembly to be replaced
2. Front Shock Absorber to be replaced - I actually do not know the issue here the dealer spotted it
The only previous warranty repair was one of the GPS aerials replaced which was causing the Sat Nav to have a day off every now and again. Not a bad (and short) list at all.
If I were to specify the car again I would go for the lightweight seats as having tried these several times now in other cars I think them more comfortable than the standards (but it should be noted I have driven in Europe 8 hours straight several times with no adverse discomfort in the standard seats). Paradoxically I would also specify the Comfort Suspension as the Sport can be a bit much on UK roads as a daily driver but again I have no major complaints here. The answer to this lies in the adaptive suspension fitted to other models, the best of both worlds. The car handles, steers and brake superbly instilling massive confidence. I find it hard to imagine myself driving anything else........
All that said and even though these have been 20,000 of the most enjoyable, grin-worthy miles I have ever covered in my 27 months of custody it is time to move on and let someone else enjoy the car so it has been sold.
The list of possible replacements was short and all were tried over quite a few miles of test driving until fate placed the (almost) perfect spec car in front of me.
So I am just popping out for a few days until that vehicle is ready for me to collect.
What is it I hear you cry - all will be revealed on collection day when you will see why it is only almost the perfect spec for me
