DB11 race car with Vulcan headlights
Discussion
Agreed. I thought the 11 would grow on me - and sadly it hasn't. I remember feeling the same way about the AM310 (Vanquish) when it was first launched - but that grew quickly. I just can't get away with the boxy rear end. This car above seems to have a reg plate - so I wonder if it's a GT3 mod or similar? It looks fantastic - but I think the rear end will still be the same.

I think the first production DB11 cars have only just been built.
That is one clue, confirmed by the windscreen advertisement, that this car does not exist. Photo software did the modifications.
It always looks great, when there is no gap between tyres and wheel arches. The problems begin as soon as you start driving.

I am with you on this. As much as i would like to get back into an Aston again the rear end of the DB11 just doesn't do it for me. Also the car looks to bulky to me. Jon39 said:

The first 1k built between now and end of year according to Palmer, which is a bit later than originally planned. Aston say they have 3k orders but I think 1k was the already sold (late) pre production cars and 2k is proper production. Remembering back to DB9 in '04 and '05, it was always talked about production being booked for a number of years, at launch I remember something like 2-3 years which equated to about 5k cars, based on that comparison the initial take up of DB11 doesn't look to have set the world on fire??

I agree the rear end looks to cheap. The balance is just off. I think if they made the rear end more like the vulcan/ tail lights size and shape it would have been a home run!
I think the problem with it is the crease line that runs all the way round the back end. It seems to be a trend that's on loads of new cars, and looks s
t on them all. It would look a lot better if it was just flat like the DB9 (still don't think the DB11 can hold a candle to the 9 in terms of looks though!)GingerMunky said:
That looks awesome. Hopefully we will get to see a few of these at Le Mans in a couple of years

The DB11 is marketed as a fast GT car. I doubt that it would ever be used for racing by the factory. The DB9 was used for the AML return to racing, but later replaced by the lighter Vantage
In the WEC this season, Vantages are performing very well.
My guess is that those cars will continue in 2017, and then the new model Vantage will be used for racing in 2018.

Whether they also do anything in the way of a racecar or trackday special with vanquish replacement in due course, who knows, given that may well be quite a special, very fast car
