Is there a thread for this already...? Had a quick look but couldn't see one before I left for work.
Anyway, to the point, when did the 'swap it out' banter start?
I must read it every single day on this forum.

The rot has set in...!

PS - And disassemble, another non-word.

Seriously? It's been in use since the 16th century, in in common use since about 1920 (according to the OED) It is not an Americanism.

Anyhow, these mini-tirades are pointless. English is, and always has been a constant evolving and bd language that continuously borrows from French, German, Latin, etc - in spoken and written form.

This thread has gotten me real pissed.

The OP is such an ass and a douchebag, I could care less.

Am I doing this right?

"Swap it out" is used when a component is replaced by an identical component - usually because the original component has failed or for test purposes.

If we only ever used the bare essentials in a sentence, we'd end up taking like the robot in "Lost in Space".

Stock.

Stock is a gun part, an investment, or the basis of good gravy. Standard is how it left the factory. The only place anyone should be replacing the stock manifold is in a soup factory.

It won't be long before we're saying bring when we mean take.

It happens all the time on American TV shows.

I went to see Romeo and Juliet at the cinema last night (the Leo DiCaprio one) and it stays faithful to a lot of the Shakespearean language. Despite having studied it at school, and having a pretty sound grasp of modern English, I was really struggling to catch some of what was being said! Some of it may as well have been in French.

It was a beautiful way of talking though smile

Apologies if this is a little OT, but I just heard a spokesperson on the Today programme talking about the NHS and the shortage of Doctors.

She described the situation as being "underdoctored"
