Classic Car friendly Hotel/B&B M3 M4 West London

Hi All

I'm travelling up to the Big Smoke from rural Devon to attend an event in central London with the Lotus. The car has no roof or security of any type. What I need is place to stay on a Friday night that wont break the bank and has safe, secure parking, undercover would be preferable. I'm travelling up the A303 and M3 by preference and would like to be close the the M25 to reduce journey time on the Saturday morning. The missus is coming so nothing too ropey!

Can anyone suggest anything? Underground parking can be an issue as the turning circle is ridiculous with faired in front wheels.

Hi, probably a bit far out / off route for you but you could stay in Marlborough (60 ish miles from london on the m4) and you'd be welcome to put your car in our storage facility gratis www.perfectcarstorage.co.uk.

A few of the hotels on the Bath Road right next to Heathrow Airport have underground parking.
And the Hilton right opposite Terminal 4 just off the A30 has part undercover, part external parking.

Going by the wording in the OP, I think the OP's intention is to attend the event in his car, not to park up and travel into London by train

Thanks for the offer Simon but that's a bit further out than I had hoped for, I'm not sure what the traffic is like travelling into London on a Saturday morning is and I can't be late!

Looks like I'll be staying around Heathrow somewhere, thanks for the advice.

Any other ideas?

When you say it has no security how little do you mean? I would quite happily park my TR (which has no security in the modern sense) in the Q-Park at Marble Arch, and plan to do so, or at one or other other similar car parks around Mayfair and thereabouts. Plenty of much more valuable machinery left lying around in those places.

And re your comment ref turning circle IIRC the Marble Arch Q-Park is very open plan.

A4 by Heathrow is a good suggestion if you are ok with the pricing. Plenty of them to choose from.

As per the poor chap who had his E type removed from a carpark, it wouldn't take someone with some basic skills 30s to hot wire the lotus and be off. The biggest deterrent would be the noise, you could hear it for 1/2 mile!

I've been parked in a hotel car park and put a cover over the car for the night only to come down in the morning and find the cover has been removed even though it was clipped underneath. I'm more worried about people leaning on the car as it's very thin alloy and is very easy to dent or crease which has happened before.

I've also parked in "secure" parking to find someone dossing in the corner. so nowhere's is perfect but all you can do is reduce the risk.

As I live in West London, never stayed in a hotel along the route, but no the area quite well and I would think that staying around Twickenham, Richmond or Chiswick would be most convenient. Security wise, I am not sure what you are looking for exactly, but depending on budget, a few hotels to consider would be the Petersham Hotel at Richmond, The Hilton at Syon Park and the Novotel at Hammersmith (which has a very large underground car park which I have used many times). There appears to be a Marriott at Twickenham Stadium, but I do not know the place or their parking facilities, I'm afraid.

Hotel at Chelsea FC has huge underground car park. So long as it's not a home match weekend the deals are pretty good and should include parking.

Selfridges funny enough will keep it secure over night. Doesnt get much more central than that!!!

There are plenty of classics hidden in there - its my favourite london car park.
