Have to say that having seen the pics and vids from the launch yesterday, it seems like a great bike. Looks, practicality, interesting & usable engine, Italian....generally all very yum smile If I had to have one bike to do everything (commute on motorway and through London, ride for fun, tour, stare at in garage etc) I'd be all over this I suspect. Only thing that seems a bit gash to my eye is the black part of the fairing on the base model in red, really looks awful, but presumably they do that to persuade you to go for the S version.

I'll take this one please smile

Think it's on my list too - about the only thing I'd want to change with the Monster would be a bit more wind protection on occasion, so what's effectively my bike plus wind protection seems like a winning combo to me thumbup

Looks nice enough but £11K?

I'm confused by this bike. It's a lovely looking bike, but what market is it competing in? Calling it a SuperSport suggests it's a 600 to me, but it's not. It's also not a Panigale, so it's like a budget version, but £11,000 is a lot of money for a budget offering.

Anyone know what the competition, or gap in the market is? Or have Ducati pulled off a master stroke and cornered an untapped market?

Isn't this the same market targeted by the Fazer? But appealing to those who want added Italian pose factor? It might not sell to couriers, but I'd consider it if it was as commuting 40 miles to work by bike 2 or 3 times a week, but still wanted something fun for the weekend .

Current competition is GSX-S 1000F and Z1000 SX

The Duc is certainly nicer looking. I suppose its just a question of if you are posing do you want a jack of all trades bike, albeit a pretty one?

I quite like it but can't see it being cost effective to run as an everyday commuting bike.

From the looks of it, it's like the A45, RS3 of the bike world i.e. compelling performance in a package which is comparatively useable.

Clever move by Ducati.

Wow, if it's those and the Fazer as mentioned before, then it's miles out on pricing.

Maybe they are going after the same type of people who bought this model of Ducati when they produced them from 1988 to 2003? That's not to mention they ones in the 1970's also, but they were the ultimate Ducati back then. The latter Super Sport being a simpler, more accessible Ducati sportsbike the the Superbike. Like this new one.

It looks like a cast off from the styling team for the old VTEC VFR800. Not doing anything for me. The pricing is silly too, that could get you onto something amazing.

I think that with the base Supersport they're targeting people who won't buy a new 959 Panigale as it's a bit pricey / focussed / not practical enough to be an all round bike. For £2k+ less than the 959 you get a Ducati sportsbike that still looks great, is easier to live with and is just as fast in the hands of an average rider (who doesn't really benefit from uber tech, 18 gazillion way adjustable suspension etc).

The Supersport S is a less obvious sell as it appears much closer in price and tech to the 959, but if you only want to run one jack of all trades bike and have the skill to see the benefit of the fancier suspension and value comfort over outright power, it makes sense.

I'm the opposite hehe much prefer a less revvy/torquier delivery, although if I was a track day person/faster rider on the road I can see how it might be different. Would have a Daytona/HP2/848/899/959/Supersport over any of the I4 600-750cc sportsbikes any day.

Would this have the 2 year belt changes or chain driven cams?

I like it.

I love my current 848, but will admit it's not the world most comfortable bike. Not enough to stop me riding it, but could be better.

This looks to be a lot like my bike, but with some added comfort, and I like that.

Sure it's pricey, its not going to be as fast or as nimble as a 959, but right now that's fine by me.

Why do I love my current bike? because I love how it looks and sounds. Sure it has quirks, and can be awkward, but hey. If this is anything like that, I'll be happy with it.

Looks like a single-sided swing arm version of a GSX-S1000.. Aggressive styling at the front but at the rear they seem to have given up.

5 years/15,000 miles now, it's not a deal breaker for most.

Agree, much more palatable. Out of interest, can the intervals on an 848 be lengthened with a different type of belt?
