Really need to get the Missus a new car and she is making it hard for me - not in a good way. Criteria as follows

Size - Mid size hatch or coupe - Focus size really - 3 series BMW deemed too big.
Ride - Needs to be towards the top end of comfy for this size of car (we live down a bumpy private road)
Interior - at least part leather and well equipped.
Nothing over £300 a year to tax
Under 75k miles.

Ruled out already - 1 series - too ugly. Mercedes SLK - too uncomfortable

Extra points for being a coupe, having a folding hard top, full leather and being quick.

Was thinking about an Alfa Guilietta 2.0 TD Veloce. Seems to fit most of the requirements, any comments on the ride quality, seems pretty good in most of the road tests. This engine have any DPF issues?

Also VW EOS with V6 engine - any good?

Comments and ideas appreciated.

This looks quite nice, those wheels look a bit big though.

For the limited improvement in performance (vs the nose-dive in MPG), I wouldn't bother with the 3.2 - the 2.0 EOS will be more than enough.
Alternatively, the A4 Convertible is classy and rides well. The 3.1 and 2.0 go well enough, and it's got more space in the back than the EOS.

A4 is too big and the roof is canvas, she's too fussy :0).

The Eos has a reputation for leaking hasn't it?
