Strange one needing the collective !!
Discussion
Normally on the SEAC ( well mine anyway ) the fuel pump can only be heard running if you stall the car , or switch the ignition on without starting it .
Today , all noises from the pump have stopped , but the strange thing is the car is still running .
When I had a pump failure on the Chimaera , that was it the car was dead and stayed that way until the pump was replaced .
As this is the only car we have , for about another week , and I start a new job on Tuesday that is 50 miles away , I really need to get it sorted tomorrow .
Have replaced the fuse , no change but not yet crawled under the car to feel if the pump is running .
Any tips , ideas appreciated .

On my car the pump runs for a couple of seconds to pressurise the system then seems to stop until the car is cranked over and is running.
My S2 used to do this as well then started doing what yours is doing now. I sold the car shortly afterwards so cannot tell you if the pump went up the spout shortly afterwards.

Inside the car I can never hear the pump. It is only possible with being low on fuel, running engine and with an ear close (not too close...) to the pump.
You can try with a direct lead if it gives you the 'old' familiar noise. And keep the lead in the car to be able to get home/to work (prefer the first) in case of problems.
I think you are fine, don't worry. Ah, forgot worrying comes as standard with wedge and TVR.
Another test could be the fuel pump stall test: if it cannot produce more than 6 psi additional to the required pressure (40psi standard for SEAC?) it seems the pump is on its way out. If the pressure test is ok, I would not worry.

The pump on mine runs for a couple of seconds when turning the ignition on, but will then stop unless the engine is turning over - a safety feature. When you say that the engine still runs, is this just for a few seconds while the residual fuel/pressure is used, or does it idle normally, run under load etc.?
