Anyone know this car...?
Discussion
I have a pal who's considering it.
High miles, updated rear end and what looks like a rather bright wrap?
Might have an interesting history!?

thanks!

I'm always worried about wraps. You could really like the colour, and the wrap might be really good quality, but what happens if you get bored, decide you want to strip the wrap off and then find that the paint underneath is 50 different shades? Unless you can get a warranty from someone that the paint underneath is A1 condition (unlikely), then I'd probably not go anywhere near it...

I'm not actually sure if it's a wrap?
Doesn't state in the ad.
Sorry, I was just going by what you said in your OP Doesn't state in the ad.
Looking at the pictures, it looks like the underside of the roof compartment is orange too so more likely to be paint I think. Looks great, but I'd want to know why the rear was done, and 110k miles is a lot...how long does your mate want to keep it for?Pretty sure that is paint, not a wrap. It's also interesting it is being sold by Synter which would also give a bit of peace of mind
but
and it's a big but
110k miles!!!
If it was my money, i'd save/take out a credit card/loan/remortgage and find the extra 5-6k to purchase one with a third of the miles on it.
The engines are strong in these but clutches are not and it's going to need suspension refresh and other worn out parts replacing on a frequent basis.

I like the look of it. I very much doubt it is on its original clutch at those miles. A much better question is when was the clutch replaced, and the brakes, and the suspension. It's got the right options and in my opinion is a stunning colour. I agree the price is slightly optimistic given miles.

I doubt it's on it's 2nd or 3rd with those miles! 40k seems to be near the top end of the scale for clutches so it's only 10k off needing it's 4th if you apply that logic.Herbs said:

A lot of money has been spent on that car - if I was the prospective buyer I'd ask for the pile of receipts so I could check on the quality of the people that did the work.
At a minimum I think there are
Wheels
Carbon fibre strakes
Boot
Diffuser
Sills (not sure of model year for the change)
Piano black on the boot
Wing mirrors
Door handles
Tail light insets
Bonnet mesh
Strake mesh
Front grill
Steering wheel looks like it has been flattened at the bottom
Marmite colour but I really like it.

i had the deposit on the car
viewed today but sadly decided to walk away- no receipt for the paint job (non aston) + no receipt for the updated rear end which opened up the question of crash/repair (but nothing to suggest so) was led to believe they had receipts from Aston for 25k paint job, n430 side sill on driver side of car was different shade of orange to the rest of the car, bad bubbling around side mirrors, front bumper was badly chipped and would need resprayed, leather interior had a couple of chips.. but i should add the seats looked great for the mileage, clutch was checked at aston who believed it had been replaced in past year- but again no receipts for a recent clutch (last one at 68k according to receipts) ... all in car would need a couple of grand spent for me to be happy
im sure someone will buy it but for 5-7k extra can buy a far lower mileage roadster and so the risk/reward and value didnt add up for me
previous plates were F5DAG AST20N and L8OUD so other forum members may be able to provide more info on history
oh and the non aston exhaust (no receipt either) was seriously loud!!!

It's not just the paint job though, there's a host very expensive improvements carried out on that car and most odd that no record kept.
Our recent encounter with "special paint" problems suggests rather more than £2k would be required to put right on it's own.
Although it looks great, at that mileage and with the lack of provenance, it needs to be very cheap or a swerver.
