cost of an AJP ?
Discussion
I bought a fire damaged AJP4.5 some years back for £1K with a gearbox attached. Inside of the engine was fine even the tips on the selectors were fine. I then had andy at apm put 4.7 wired liners in and give me a set of pistons and copper gaskets.
That's all sitting in my garage on a shelf. I bought it to protect against my current 4.5 going pop. How much must that be worth now to someone who wants a project.

why would you want an ajp with plenty of far better alternatives available this is not a jibe just interested

Originality? Character? The fact it is utterly unique to the Cerbera? If you want a car with a crate engine, there are many other alternative cars to buy.john

Because it is so light, and it means the car has a near perfect 51-49 balance. Anything else you put in will be much heavier, even though it may be powerful enough to increase the bhp/ton.john

The AJP is bespoke to the Cerbera, can you get that,no other road car used this engine, imagine that being repeated again in an affordable road car?... that alone elevates the car to exhaled ranks.. It`s the very DNA of the Cerbera.john

i do agere with most comments about originality only wrong one is weight ls3 for example is lighter even than the rv8 but good examples of the ajp in any size are getting hard to find and unfortunatly very expensive to rebuild
john
I think you're missing the point, with sincere respect, a Cerbera with an AJP is collectible not consumable.john

Figures I've found say the LS3 is somewhere between 180-205 kg depending on trim, whereas the AJP8 is 121 kg. That will change the balance of a car, although admittedly the engine is set way back which should mittigate the effect considerably.I'm not denying that the LS3 is often seen as a fit and forget engine, that certainly isn't the case with the AJP8. Also, no one thinks its a good idea to mate an LS3 to a T5WC, so you have significant fabrication issues to deal with - not that you need me to tell you that!! LOL
Probably shouldn't post this
BUT
I used (when I was teenager) to Lurve the sound of 90 deg crank engines on overrun and dreamed of owning an engine that sounded like Frank Bullit's Mustang.
Then I bought the Cerb and the sound of overrun after blipping the throttle on a changedown (particularly into third) reminds me of two Japanese racebikes chasing each other into a long corner.
I am in paradise !

(but each to their own)

A few years ago Andy at APM quoted 7500 for a fully rebuilt 4.7 supplied.

And that is the signature sound of an AJP8 - two engines very slightly out of synch, which is why one of my passengers said it sounded like being in a twin engined plane. This comes up so many times, and hopefully won't if prices firm up. You can almost list the producers of flat plane crank engines on one hand. Why you would want to put a wobbly flatulent sounding push rod engine in I have no idea. With any luck this will go away in a couple of years.
If you still want the flatulent sound track you can buy a corvette or build an ultima. Imagine a Ferrari 355 owner saying "yes please, fit that ls3". It would be like fitting a terd on a 2 carat diamond solitaire ring.

If you get a chance to see Paul Black's LS9 Sagaris, you might have to reconsider that.ukkid35 said:

Not really.. not to be condescending but it's a "bitza" . Like I say if you want to go fast fit that engine to an ultima evo... the records it holds speak for them selves. No LS engined tvr will ever get close to it. Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
