Following corner balancing, I found out what happens when the front suspension is set too low. When the tyres touch the top of the wheel arch there is a viscous braking effect, which sends the car darting in that direction. If you click on the times in the description it will take you straight to the points where it happens.

That was the last time I drove the car until I raised it back up. I was very lucky to be able to borrow a shock spanner from the guy running a temporary Bilstein Stand outside the cafe, as of course it was the one tool I didn't bother to bring with me. Took just over an hour to do, and part of the time the track was closed so not a disaster. I had to disconnect the drop links in order to get proper access, even then you end up with grazed knuckles when the spanner slips off, which it inevitably does.

The run afterwards was fine, no scraping at all. Very pleased I just got on with it rather than put up with it and adjust my driving.

A lesson for us all to be aware of since on a wet day that could probably have resulted in a loss of traction during that prolonged scrub towards the end (2:38ish?) when the water had been removed from the arch and tyre.

This is what it looked like before I raised the ride height.
