A3 8P Quattro wheel offset.

Looking for some advice on wheel fitment. I am looking to change my wheels, I believe the standard wheel size on my A3 7.5x18 ET54(correct me if im wrong). The new wheels are 8x18 ET42 fitted with the same 225/40/18 tyres. The seller assures my the lower offset will be fine and they won't stick out to far but I need more opinions before i lay out the cash. Anyone running this set up? all advice welcome.
If it make a difference my car is a my2010 2.0 s-line quattro, currently on standard springs but future plans include -30mm eibachs.
