Every time there's a post about something bad that was in the news, normally some kind of attack, especially to a child or woman, there's a stream of posts from our resident Internet hard men detailing precisely what they'd do to the attacker if it were their child or wife that had been attacked. They're adamant that nothing could stop them, that they'll happily take the full consequences of the law for their actions.

Obviously I appreciate that 99% of this is bullst and bluster, but does it ever happen in real life? Does anyone ever wait for someone that's attacked their loved ones to come out of jail (assuming they were imprisoned for it) and go for them?

I've never ever heard of it happening, but wondered whether it ever did. It would be understandable after all, especially if a young family member had been involved and the sentence was deemed by the parent to be far too light and justice had not been served (or they just really wanted to kill the bloke that messed with their loved one - an understandable emotion).

Gerard Butler did it even better when he tortured the guy in front of a mirror with his eyes taped open. Or did he cut his eyelids off, I can't remember?

Time is a healer and all that.

There's several people I wish suffered severely for their sins. (Against me, or against others I am friends with) But tbh, unless I win the Euromillions I'm unlikely to have enough money to have them all killed laugh

A friend of my Dads murdered a man who was diddling his wife back in the 1990s, he gave the ex wife, who had treated him very badly by all accounts (took him for everything, wouldn't let him see their daughter, snake with tits etc etc) a hiding for good measure - this was a while after they had separated so it was clearly eating him up inside and he decided to do something about it, eek

I can't remember how long he got sent down for, but it's around twenty years ago now so he could well be out. He was a mild mannered chap according to my Dad - or was anyway!

Sounds like he was obsessed. If he couldn't move on with his life after they'd separated. He was no longer his wife!

That's not exactly revenge on someone that attacked your family though is it? That's attacking someone because you don't like the situation you find yourself in.

TBH I don't think you actually can, and I think people who've actually had a terrible thing (no, adultery is not a terrible thing, just plain old end of a relationship even less so) caused to their loved ones by a third party generally realise that very quickly.

You can't undo it.

There was a case several years ago where a one eyed pissed up banned lorry driver ran over and killed a child. He showed no remorse and was jailed for several years.

When he came out the kids Father shot him, bang to rights, he went to court charged with attempted murder. He entered a not guilty plea and even though the evidence was 100% against him, the jury found him not guilty.

His only comment afterwards was regret he hadn't killed him. Yes he got some form of revenge, but his life was over the moment his child was crushed.

Was there not a case a while back in Europe where a plane carrying loads of children was involved in a mid-air collision, everyone on board both planes died, one of the kids father decided to go after the air traffic controller involved and stabbed him to death?

That German Air Traffic Controller that caused the mid air collision was seemingly bumped off by the father or husband of one of the victims.

Seems like me an obster were thinking of the same case at the same time.

IIRC he lived in some Swiss village.

per wiki

Devastated by the loss of his wife and two children aboard flight 2937, Vitaly Kaloyev, a Russian architect, held Peter Nielsen responsible for their deaths. He tracked down and stabbed Nielsen to death at his home in Kloten, near Zürich, on 24 February 2004.[17][23] The Swiss police arrested Kaloyev at a local motel shortly after, and he was sentenced to prison for the murder in 2005. He was released in November 2007 because his mental condition was not sufficiently considered in the initial sentence. After his release, Kaloyev was dubbed a hero in North Ossetia. In January 2008, he was appointed deputy construction minister of North Ossetia.[24]

Yes. But in a round about way.

If you've seen some of my posts, I work in the social housing sector.

Many years ago at a house party a tenant was there. I had no idea who he was, never dealt with him.

I did know he was an utter crazed psychopath who liked pub fighting and utter mayhem.

I avoided him, never spoke to him. However because of my job, he needed to attAck me.

When I tried leaving, he came at me with a kitchen carving knife. Now I'm no hard man but I'm not a little weakling. We had a massive fight, clothes ripped, blood everywhere.

All the so called hard men there darent even intervene. I managed to get free and escape. Rang the police and he was arrrested and charged. Physically I'm a battered bloody mess.

I pressed charges, which again no one could believe someone would stand up against him.

So we go to court, he gets a suspended sentence. Now I then live the next year thinking is he going to come to work, will I meet him in a local pub etc.

He then beats someone else up so badly he fractures his skull, popping his eye out.

This time he is sent to prison

On his release at some point later he steals a motorcycle. Whilst fleeing from the police with no helmet on he puts it through a dry stone wall killing himself.

What a result. The misery this scum had inflicted on me and others ends. He'd have continued in the same vein forever.

A social worker and a Crown prosecutor, I'm surprised you had time for parties.

That's true. It was in sittingbourne, Kent. Stephen Owen shot Kevin Taylor the one-eyed tipper lorry driver who killed his son, and only got 12 months sentence. He was acquitted of all charges!

This immediately springs to mind...

Father kills guy who kidnapped and believed to have sexually assaulted his son.

5 years probation no prison sentence either.

Fair play to him, I see no reason why he should be sent down personally.
