Did various searches and can't find it's lap time for the Nordschleiffe. I know htere were speed restrictions earlier in the year but can anyone provide a lap time, even an estimated one ?

Does that not go against the ethos of the whole car. Not going to be a fast one (compared to the RS) and almost does the car a disservice by doing so.

This was one designed for the road so lap times are all intents and purposes - meaningless...

It'll be easy slower than a regular GT3 but much more rewarding no doubt.

I very much doubt it'd be any slower than the regular gt3. RS yes but not the gt3.

Whilst Porsche don't quote a lap time. The car is very very fast, the engine feels like it has another 10% over the RS, It also has no drag, and its very light. With the right pilot ie some one that knows how to use a stick, would expect it to sit between the GT3 and RS from a Lap time prospective.....

Hello David , hope you are well .
Apollo is correct , the r actually puts more power to the ground than the RS due to less drivetrain losses according to AP

an auto box can lose as much as 20% of its power from crank to rear wheels although the pdk box will be a lot less but a manual box loses about 8-10%!
So the R may develop 20-30hp more than the RS at the rear wheels!

Its not just the extra bhp, its the way in witch it spins up, it seems to pick up a lot faster...

Know what you mean, the standard ones are a bit bland doing the same...

But the gear changes will be much faster in RS,we need someone to test it the R and report back so.

The R is not about lap times. Surely you all realise this?

True, hadn't considered those factors, I was basing my assumption on having the right driver to make the most of the manual box.

The R only has 245 tyres on the front and the RS has 265. The RS has 350kg of downforce at top speed, they doubled the downforce on the wider front tyres due to the slats as well. Given all that I doubt any R will be troubling an RS at the Ring any time soon, even with it's manual box and less drive train loses trumpeted above. And that's forgetting the manual gearbox is human operated and slower.....

As mollytherocker said though, this car seems to be cutting a lucrative niche not connected to track times.

For clarity , I made no comment on ringtimes in above quote . Was simply confirming apollos power to the ground statement.
It's fairly obvious (or should be) that the RS is more suited to the track

Not sure if serious???

A torque-converter autobox loses up to 20% of power from crank to wheels. PDK is an automated manual transmission with dual-clutch for faster shifting. Its power loss is the same as for any other manual transmission.

Not according to Andreas preuninger it isn't .
His exact words were "because of the manual gearbox the r actually puts more power to the ground than the RS "

It's hard to argue with the horses mouth
