Used BMW X6 - but which one to buy?

Ok, I'll get this bit out of the way first - some of you will think this car looks like a pig! I know that. I happen to like it.
However, its not for me, the missus wants one. She is coming from a Range Rover Sport and likes the high driving position so that is a must, and she is moving to the BMW X6 simply for a change. She will eventually sell it on in a couple of years for the new shape Range Rover Sport, but only once the price becomes a little less eye watering.
There are 2 cars in NI under consideration. Both look identical, same colour, same alloys.
Vehicle View - BMW X6 xDrive30d - Belfast
The linked one above is £26k - 2012 with 35k miles - 3 litre turbo (30d)
The other one is £26.7k - 2013 with 57k miles - 3 litre twin turbo (40d)
Pretty much the same price now, but we have one eye on resale value when she changes back to range rover in a couple of years. We want to get max value resale when the time comes. Both are extremely well specced with about 5k options on the 30d and 7k options on the 40d
The extra plus points of the 40d:
Sunroof
Upgraded sound system
reverse camera with 360 surround (top view)
1 year younger
Extended full BMW main dealer warranty for 2 years (versus 1 year on the 2012 30d)
Better overall driving pleasure with the twin turbo
Extra Plus points of the 30d:
Less miles
Roof rails
To be honest, I'm thinking the 40d is the better choice, simply because of the list of plus points it has over the 30d. Its only £700 more and the reverse camera I think is a key feature on a car with such poor rear visibility.
But.....the less miles of the 30d might be better in the long run in terms of resale value?
She will do about 10k miles per year.
My heart says 40d - my head says 50/50

The ultimate goal is the get into a the new shape range rover sport in a couple of years so if we have better resale price down the line, it goes towards getting a better range rover when the time comes. My man logic says that makes sense, no?soupdragon1 said:

Then surely keeping her present car for an extra couple of years makes the most financial sense?The cheapest car is the one you already own isn't it?
77k miles on the 40d in a couple of years will be pretty high whereas the 30d will be low mileage ish still.
have a look at glasses guide and see what it says as that may help
personally I think the difference could be quite small so i'd go for the one you want - presumably the 40d. If you keep maintaining the warranty then the mileage isn't going to be so much of a problem for you.
also look at the number of owners of each car as that will have an effect come resale if one is a 6 owner car and one is a one owner car

Is it just that because I'm buying one, people don't want to be rude and to say that on this thread or is it that people have started to warm to the X6 now?
I did this same thread on another forum (not car related) and I got similar replies - ie - go for the 40d but also, that a lot of people like the X6 now.

I think the twin turbo X6 is definitely the best choice - that extra responsiveness to throttle input makes for a better overall drive compared to a normal turbo deisel so I don't think we'll regret this choice one bit - thanks again for all the input!

Funnily enough I followed one into Salisbury this morning, it was solid white with darkened rear lights so probably not the best example to see. Anyway, I can`t think of a reason I`d buy one over the equivalent X5 but there you go.Anyway enjoy, I`m sure the 40d makes rather nice progress...

familiarity reduces the shock of these things 
but when the first "tall" hatchbacks came out (civic?) there was a lot negativity to the size / height of them, now all hatchbacks are super sized and tall (because of the space / packaging advantages) and nobody bats an eyelid about it, same is happening with crossovers, they become the norm / less shocking
The 40d is now in the driveway
My mum doesn't like it, my dad thinks its amazing so typical divided opinion of this car!
As for driving, its superb. So much better than the RRS its replacing. Handling is incredible considering its dimensions and that bmw engine with the twin turbos is very impressive. Overall, delighted. Bmw idrive is impressive too, very simple and intuitive interface.
The completely unnecessary runs to the shop have started already, just can't wait to get behind the wheel.
