Audi s4 steering vibrations when in full lock

Hi guys,

Looking at buying an s4 B8, but when I test drove it I was getting quite a bit of steering vibrations when turning full lock or near full lock. Garage tried to tell me it's normal which I doubt it. Have any other s4 guys had the same issue?

Quattros do this, it gets worse the wider the tyres get. R8s and RS4s it's really pronounced.

Had this on a bog standard 2.0 Tdi. Could only really notice it when parking on very smooth surfaces. The dealer initially fobbed me off with "non-spec tyres, tyre wear etc" until the master technician got involved. After changing the front wheels to rule out any tyre related cause he correctly diagnosed it as a PAS pressure pump pipe problem. Apparently a known issue and replaced under warranty. Hopefully this is useful although yours is S4.

It is normal, more pronounced with when the tires are worn. Does seem that contis are more prone to this.

I've only ever experienced this in my old 2001 AllRoad, none of the quattros, and I've had ten of various kinds.

An Allroad is a quattro.

Yes, I can confirm my last few Audi's have all done this when on full lock, particularly on smooth surfaces. Mainly the Quattro models I think...

I've had two S6 quattros and a 2011 A8 quattro. All of them have done it.

Yep my 08-plate S5 did this and it panicked me slightly to begin with until I realised its normal!
