It seems this American craze has hit our shores. Its being reported in my local paper that, "Police are warning that they will arrest any pranksters who dress up as clowns".

I was just wondering whether it is now illegal to dress up as clowns?

Being discussed here already (although I know yours is more a legal question about dressing up)

They might struggle to arrest people simply for dressing up as a clown, but if there's any hint of causing alarm or distress, I imagine they'd clamp down with a S5 POA, or even a BOP.

Breach of the peace. Non criminal offence, but a way of removing someone from a situation if there's a risk of harm to either party.

It is a common law offence in Scotland and as such carries a potential maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

I really fu****g despair sometimes.

Pokemon Go, starting every sentence with "so", happy-slapping, now dressing up as clowns

Let's hope the next craze is shooting yourself through the mouth. That'll sort these tits out.
