Car will be 6 years old in March.

Car has original Mercedes AGM (car has stop start) battery, I want to fit a new Mercedes AMG battery is this a DIY job or does the battery need coding by the dealer.
Many thanks for any advice.

I believe it needs coding, but anyone with STAR can do this, a decent Merc Indy for example.
Does the battery need to be replaced or are you doing it 'because its 6 years old'.
Access is very easy on this model of SLK, it's underneath a cover held on with three clips. If you can, fit a C-Tech charger or similar after, keeps the battery in great shape and lasts much longer especially over winter.

Hi
Many thanks I will get a price of an independent.

Battery seems fine and I have just given it a full charge with my Ctek MX10 on the AGM setting.

I am only really changing it as the car (and Battery will be 6 years old) car has only done 23000 miles and wife only does 6 miles a day.

Just know she has the heated seats and air scarf on in winter for the 3 mile trip and the headlights will be on.

Guess I could just keep topping it up with the ctek and see how we get on this winter.

Battery needs coding to the car? For real?
