Sister in Law has voiced the fact that she would like a new car.

She currently drives a 2006 Honda Civic 1.4 Petrol Its a bit er... tired cosmetically and sounds like the clutch is on the way out.
Have suggseted she spends some money getting it up together, but shes had the car a while and fancies a change.

She's not really a car person, so she isnt into badge snobbery / high performance cars.

We talked about leasing, but she likes the idea of owning her own car and she tends to keep them a while.

Requirements

Medium sized, nothing bigger than than the Civic
Easy to Park
Good level of toys / gadgets, she has specifically mentioned, bluetooth, parking sensors and rear parking camera
Petrol - she doesnt do long journeys and typically two or three miles to work every day. She does do the occasional long trip but very rarely

We looked at Auto Trader etc this morning, and so far the following she seems to like

Hyundi I30
Ford Fiesta
Current Honda Civic, which is what I really think she wants.
Alfa Mito

She didnt like

Audi A1
Fiat 500

To me the Hyundi seems great value for money and has all the toys she wants. Same again for the Fiesta Titanum model seems well spec'd

Not really sure about budget, but she started making "to expensive noises" at around the 15K mark. More in £8500 to £10000 mark seemed to be where she is comfortable with

We're going around the dealers in a couple of weekends time just so she can have a look sit in.

This isnt the sort of car I would normally look for so I'm after some alternatives to show her, up for some curve ball / left field options.

Have her look at a Jazz. I can't speak highly enough of mine.

I'd be looking at an Elegance spec Yeti.

I think you'd get a 1.4 TSI car for your budget.

Edit, looks like you can't get a 1.4 TSI Elegance spec in budget from my 2 mins on EBay but I'd still look at a Yeti.

When you say medium size I'd assume that means Focus sized but you mention the Fiesta so I'm guessing you're looking at this size of vehicle.
