I am changing my front brake discs and pads and am struggling to remove the disc form the hub.

Anyone done this before and got any advice ?

I've already removed the old pads, caliper and x2 torq head screws, but the discs won't budge.

Not sure if there is anything else I need to remove before the disc can be taken off ?

I have a copy of the workshop manual, but that doesn't say anything more than I have already done.

Any advice would be appreciated.

There are a couple of fasteners on the face of the hub that need to be removed. After that, brute force is what you need.

I used a block of wood behind the disc and a heavy hammer. Work around the disc until it loosens.

I'd already loosened (but not removed) the x2 disc screws (Prevents the disc flying off once off the hub)

I've managed to get one off with brute force, the other is being a bit more awkward.

I've given it a good spray of penetrating fluid, so I'll take the mallet to it again tomorrow.

You should be very careful hammering the disc. I did and damaged the bearing. Make sure you persuade it one side and then the other repeatedly to prevent cross binding the spigot. I had to replace the bearing, getting that out of the swivel housing is even more difficult.

When I mean brute force, I used rubber mallet first and then hammer with a chock of wood, hitting and then rotating the wheel until it came away from the hub. I'll use the bolt/extraction method tomorrow if it still won't come off.
