I've been told that when Caterham replaced the Roadsport 125 with the 270, the ONLY difference was the engine, and maybe the stickers on the bodywork. Does anyone know if this is true?

I ask because I have a car that was sold to me as a Roadsport, but actually has the 270 engine. So - is my car a Roadsport, or a 270?

Any thoughts appreciated!

What year is your car?

The type of car is written on the plate in front of the pedal box.

Caterham used to offer 125bhp and 140bhp states of tune, they've recently moved to 135bhp and 155bhp models since Caterham seem to have made better use of the newer VVT Sigmas. However, they've been selling the VVT Sigmas for a while (in 140bhp guise). Just because your car has one of the newer engines doesn't mean it's new enough to be a 270 rather than a Roadsport. How/why do you think it's the 270 engine?

Bottom line is, there really isn't much difference in them in anything other than name. No two Caterhams are completely alike, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the reply. Car was newly registered earlier this year, but supplied as a kit prior to that. CC have confirmed that the engine is a TA variant, which is the 270 so I'm told. I guess that the kit was supplied as a Roadsport in name, but I think that the base 270 isn't actually any different - just a re-badge.

Great car, whatever the name!

Enjoy it smile

The name really doesn't make much difference since the specs vary so much. MIne's a Roadsport 140 but shares more in common with a Superlight 150 than a normal Roadsport (Aside from the obvious engine spec).
