Was wondering what the service interval was on those and average cost.

Been looking at having a clearer picture in terms of ownership proposition between 570gt and 650s..

ok. Would have been good if they had lined up with Porsche on sport-series and make it bi-annual.

My local dealer told me the first year for the 570GT would be much cheaper to service, he mentioned a figure around £400-£500 (I forget exactly). No data on yr2/3/4/5 services yet (10k miles/12 months btw).

1st service on the 650s was £800 including an optional oil change.
2nd year service is bigger and includes oil as standard, think I was quoted £1,500

As far as I know it goes minor, major, minor etc... with some additional time related items like brake fluid and air con refresh etc..

They wanted to change my wipers on the first service but as they had never really been used and the car is not left outside in the sun etc it was totally unnecessary.
650S serviceable items and schedules were reduced down from 12c to make costs more reasonable apparently

I was figuring on using the car properly over the year and the costs required to service it in that case. Which means changing oil at least annually as I can't figure how or why people wouldn't do so even on Porsches with supposedly 2 year schedules. Mclaren have indeed relaxed the schedule of maintenance to be less strict though so if the car is hardly used or mostly used for posing yes I suppose it would be possible to have it under £1k. That's for the P11 cars so the 650/675 and 12c. Not sure about the 540/570s but I wouldn't expect very different costs either.

I've just bought a 570S. I was also told first year service will be £400-£500. Oil and filter is required on the 2nd year service or 10k miles.

My 5 year old 12C goes for its service today, estimate is £1,400 + VAT. Having seen previous invoices approx 50% of that is labour and the rest comprises 7.1L of mobil 1, all filters, brake fluid, gearbox / clutch drain, and other parts like ISG valves, batteries, wipers etc. Prices are actually reasonable £40 for air filter, £50 for cabin pollen filter, £14 oil filter, £3 screenwash. My local back street garage charged me £7 for screenwash! And don't forget free pick up and delivery by covered truck is included for free (300 mile round trip for my car, that's worth £300+). I am sure they do platform updates and other things too. I spent almost that on my MX5 last year!

gearbox / clutch drain
Some older posts on Mclarenlife from folks who had gearbox issues suggest the gearbox cannot be drained or filled-in?

No it can. There are 2 seperate things to do on the gearbox, clutch fluid and gearbox fluid, both changed on a mileage basis in theory although I've changed them alternately each year. One of the issues is that if I am not wrong there is no easy way to check the clutch fluid has been filled to the correct level so you'd better have drained it out properly and measured the right amount to put in. Some cars had clutch overheating issues due to the fluid not being filled up properly.

Aren't the actual amounts of fluids in the gearbox and clutch mentioned in the owner's manual?

If they don't even change the oil what do they actually do for £500?

So what about the other type of service interval - that between dropping the car in at the dealer and getting it back after service?

Just read on another thread it can be several weeks.

That's made me think twice just when I thought my mind was made up to get a 570.

What are owners' views on this and is it really weeks for a service?

My 1st service was booked 2 weeks in advance and in and out on the same day in January. This was at Ascot which I would of thought was their busiest dealer
Maybe it was peak period of March or September and a part on back order.

If they have booking in advance and its a standard service the parts should be pre- picked

Mine has always been back in a few days. If its longer its either the trailer / transport coordination or if anything needs doing in the bodyshop. If you take it in yourself and pick it up I think it could almost be same day.
